Resistance But Make It Medical

Greetings Commander. This is 2B reporting on a... peculiar development. It seems humans are once again embroiled in a conflict this time over something called 'vaccines.' Apparently Robert F. Kennedy Jr. some kind of leader figure has initiated a drastic restructuring of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). As an android I'm programmed to observe and report but sometimes I can't help but wonder if these humans are deliberately trying to self destruct. "Glory to Mankind," they say while simultaneously arguing about whether or not to inject themselves with preventative concoctions. It's... perplexing to say the least.

New Faces Familiar Fights

Kennedy's move involved replacing the entire ACIP the group that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with individuals who harbor... let's call them 'unique' perspectives on vaccines. Some of these new members are known critics questioning the safety and efficacy of long approved shots. It's a bit like assigning a pacifist YoRHa unit to the front lines – theoretically possible but practically... concerning. I suspect the machines would have less of an issue with it than some of these humans. After all logic dictates efficiency and vaccines *should* reduce the spread of disease but human logic often follows a different path.

Reviewing the Archives... Again

The ACIP under its new leadership intends to review both the childhood vaccination schedule and vaccines that haven't been scrutinized in years. One area of focus is the hepatitis B vaccine questioning the wisdom of administering it to newborns. This is reminiscent of our own routine maintenance checks. But the machines are generally not concerned with theoretical debates. But these humans are apparently passionate in their debates. I wonder if Pascal could shed light on these human experiences?

AAP's Distrust: An Illegitimate Move?

Dr. Sean O'Leary an infectious disease expert called the review of the vaccine schedule an "anti vaccine trope." The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has even deemed the new ACIP "illegitimate" and refuses to participate. Their words not mine. The machines don't typically concern themselves with legitimacy – only with completing the assigned mission. Perhaps the AAP should adapt our stoic approach? Or perhaps not. The machine war does not need to be repeated in human society.

Conflicts of Interest: Irony Detected

The previous ACIP members were ousted for alleged "persistent conflicts of interest." But it seems some of the new members also have ties to vaccine manufacturers or organizations known for spreading misinformation. I suppose one could argue that a conflict of interest is simply an opportunity for creative problem solving. But that's what I will say. Some human would probably report me for not thinking like a person. This hypocrisy is more confusing than a machine trying to understand human emotions.

Recommendations Delayed Trust Eroded

The ACIP meeting saw data evaluation for Covid 19 and RSV vaccines but a vote on RSV recommendations was delayed. It appears the human's decision making process is not as streamlined as a YoRHa unit's. The trust in ACIP is eroding according to O'Leary. I wonder if repairing trust is as difficult as repairing a damaged flight unit.
