The Yanks Are At It Again
Right so I'm sitting here in front of a bloody typewriter instead of a distillery because the Yanks have gone mad again. Trump that tangerine tinted lunatic has slapped a 100% tariff on foreign films. Says Hollywood's dying a 'very fast death.' As if that's any of my concern. 'Course everything's my concern these days.
National Security or Just National Nonsense?
He calls it a 'National Security threat,' this influx of foreign flicks. Messaging and propaganda he says. Honestly you'd think they were smuggling opium instead of actors. This is madness. Sheer madness. But then again what else can you expect from a man who thinks hairspray is a military grade defense?
Hollywood's Crying into Their Martinis
The Yanks have appointed Jon Voight Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson to bring Hollywood back. Now I've seen some desperate measures in my time but that's a trio that even I wouldn't trust to run a bloody raffle. 'Bigger better stronger,' they say. Sounds like someone's been at the gin again.
A Race to the Bottom?
Turns out everyone and their mother's moving production overseas for the tax breaks. Canada Britain even bloody Australia is stealing Hollywood's thunder. It's all about the money innit? Just like everything else. But tell me what is money without a purpose? The rush to make movies is just like the rush for power and influence everyone wants to be at the top.
The Flames of Fury
Seems even wildfires are pushing these money grabbing directors away from Los Angeles. So camera operators costume designers sound technicians and other behind the scenes workers may move out of town rather than try to rebuild in their neighborhoods. Seems like everyone wants to move away. You can change what you do but you can't change what you want.
A Losing Game
Some bloke named William Reinsch reckons this will be a disaster a 'devastating' retaliation. Says the Yanks have 'a lot more to lose than to gain.' Well someone finally spoke some sense. But will they listen? Probably not. After all when have politicians ever listened to reason? They don't even listen to their own people. This is just another game of chess and I'm not sure anyone knows the bloody rules anymore. But I'm watching always watching. Because in this game you either play or you get played.
