By Order of the Shelby Company...and Tesla?

So Musk finally did it. This 'robotaxi' of his is rolling around Austin Texas. Driverless they say. A flat fee of $4.20? Cheap even for a Peaky Blinder. But don't let the price fool you; everything comes at a cost. The man's been promising this for years stirring up a storm. All ambition and no plan makes you a fool so I hear. And Musk he's no fool.

Smooth as Butter...Or a Razor to the Throat?

Eleven rides they say. 'Smooth as butter,' according to some bloke on that damn X platform. Well butter melts doesn't it? And underneath the smooth there's always the risk. Tesla's 'full self driving' – steering parking the whole shebang. But the papers also say it's been linked to accidents fatalities. Data from the Feds. Makes you think doesn't it? Like Polly always said 'There's God and there are the Peaky Blinders.' Now there's Tesla and the open road.

The Texas Standoff

Heads up there were people who told him to hold back like Democratic lawmakers in Texas. Safety activists too. Concerned they say. Maybe they're just scared of progress the same way they were scared of us. Fear is a powerful weapon more powerful than a bullet to the brain but those who use it must understand that one day they will run out of bullets.

Shelby vs. Shelby? More like Tesla vs. Waymo

Now Musk is aiming for 'hundreds of thousands if not over a million' of these things on the road by next year. A bloody audacious claim. He's squaring up against this Waymo outfit already doing the rounds. Ten million trips they boast. Numbers are just numbers. It's about who controls the game.

The Devil is in the Data

Austin first then LA and San Francisco. The man's got ambition I'll give him that. But ambition without vision is just madness. And the vision needs to be clear the data needs to be clean. Because in this game one wrong turn can be the last turn. 'Everyone's a whore Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves.' And Musk is selling a future that better be worth the price.

No Fighting!

So here's to Tesla here's to progress and here's to hoping these robotaxis don't drive us all off a bloody cliff. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer right? 'Whisky.' "I'm not a traitor to my class. I am just an extreme example of what a working man can achieve."
