A Blinder on Trade

Right so I've had a look at this tariff business. Seems like this Trump fella all bluster and bad suits is trying to strong arm the Chinese with these tariffs. Erica York some economist type reckons if he goes over 100% on these tariffs it'll be like cutting off trade altogether. No more deals no more bargains. Just a right bloody mess. And that's not good for business is it? 'Whiskey's good proofing water. Tells you who's real and who isn't.' These tariffs they're proofing us alright.

The Market's Gone South

Apparently the markets are twitchy. One minute they're up next they're down faster than a bookie's odds when a Shelby Company Limited horse gets pulled. A White House bloke confirmed they've jacked up the tariff to 145%. That's a fair whack even for me. All this uncertainty it's enough to make a man reach for the opium. But no we push on. 'Everyone's a whore Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves.' And right now Trump's selling us all a lemon.

Ninety Days of Grace? Don't Count On It

Trump's saying he'll drop some tariffs for 90 days except for the Chinese. Sounds like a temporary reprieve but I wouldn't bet the Garrison on it. 'The only way to guarantee peace is by making the prospect of war seem hopeless.' Maybe Trump thinks he's making war with China hopeless but he's just making a right balls up of everything. He's talking about extending the so called 'reprieve'....but will he? Can we trust him? Is this guy even trustworthy?

Back to the Forties By Order Of The Peaky Blinders!

This York woman reckons these tariffs are taking us back to the 1940s. That's before my time almost. Sounds like a grim state of affairs all rationing and dodgy deals. She says it's gonna hike up costs and hit the economy hard. 'Intelligence is a very valuable thing innit my friend? And usually it comes far too fucking late.' Seems like we're learning this lesson the hard way again. A lot of people will not have enough to eat.

A Taxing Time Ahead

The Tax Foundation they're saying these tariffs will bring in an extra $171.6 billion. Biggest tax hike since 1993! More than those other blokes Bush and Obama ever managed. So Trump's basically taxing everyone to fund his little game. 'Lies travel faster than truth.' And this whole tariff charade is built on a pile of lies. I thought America was built on freedom it seems like it is only built on taxes.

China's Not Backing Down

The Chinese aren't taking this lying down mind you. They've slapped their own tariffs on us. Up to 84% they say. This could turn into a right proper trade war with everyone losing out. 'When you plan something well enough there's no need to rush.' Trump should have planned better. Now we're all paying the price for his bloody games.
