Twenty Billion Quid? By Order of Amazon
Right listen up. Amazon's splashing twenty billion dollars on data centers in Pennsylvania. That's enough to make even Polly raise an eyebrow. They're building one next to a nuclear plant the Susquehanna one. Makes you wonder doesn't it? All that power... and what they're planning to do with it. It's a gamble but then so is every deal I make.
Plugging In Shelby Style
They're calling it a 'behind the meter' connection this deal with the nuclear plant. Sounds dodgy even for me. The Feds are sniffing around asking if there'll be enough power left for the rest of us. Fair point that. Can't have the whole country going dark just so Amazon can run their bloody servers. But then again who are we to complain when progress is looming? Sometimes you have to make deals with the devil.
Fairless Hills and Steel Dust and Data
Another data center's going up in Fairless Hills where a U.S. Steel mill used to stand. Rust to riches eh? Turning scrap into silicon. It's a sign of the times. This state governor Shapiro reckons it's the biggest investment Pennsylvania's ever seen. Good for him. But remember the bigger they are the harder they fall. Don't get too comfortable governor.
Mississippi to Pennsylvania: The AI Land Grab
Amazon's not just messing about in Pennsylvania. They're throwing billions at data centers all over from Mississippi to Ohio. All this to fuel their AI nonsense. The world's changing fast faster than a bet on a rigged race. And we're caught right in the middle aren't we? Still never apologise it's a sign of weakness.
Nuclear Gamble: Three Mile Island Rising?
Microsoft's getting in on the act too. They're trying to fire up Three Mile Island again. That place gives me the creeps and I've seen some things. Twenty year deal they say. Twenty years is a lifetime in this business. Sooner or later everyone faces the consequences of their decisions; why not make the right ones now?
Natural Gas: A Fiery Future?
Someone's turning Pennsylvania's biggest coal plant into a ten billion dollar natural gas powered data center. Seems everyone's getting into the game. The future is unwritten but it does have a tendency to repeat itself. The question is will they sink or swim? We shall see shall we not?
