My Hellish Introduction

Greetings mortals! It is I Scorpion! Hanzo Hasashi Specter of Vengeance. I have risen from the Netherrealm to bring you the economic news straight from the fiery depths of…Japan? Yes even I Scorpion find myself entangled in this trade war nonsense. I was promised kombat not…tariffs. But fear not I shall deliver this news with the same burning intensity I reserve for Sub Zero! Get over here and listen up!

Many Cards? Sounds Like a Deadly Game!

Apparently Japan has 'many cards' to play. I too have many cards. Like my spear my hellfire and my burning skull! Takeshi Niinami some economic advisor who is probably less threatening than Kotal Kahn says Japan is ready for tariff negotiations with the U.S. He seems 'cautiously optimistic'. Cautious optimism? Bah! Where’s the thrill of battle? Where is the bloodlust? I prefer optimism seasoned with a dash of vengeance.

Treasury Bonds: More Deadly than a Scorpion Sting!

Niinami boasts that Japan is the biggest foreign investor in the U.S. and the largest holder of U.S. Treasury bonds. Apparently this is a big deal. He seems to think reminding President Trump about their massive U.S. Treasury stock is like holding a kunai to his throat. 'We know that the President is [very concerned] over the bond market,' Niinami says. He’s banking on Trump's fear being stronger than his ego. A foolish strategy perhaps but who am I to judge? I once trusted Quan Chi...

Military Might: Not Just for Mortal Kombat!

Ah now we're talking! Niinami suggests Japan could talk about military purchases from the U.S. They want to increase defense spending. More weapons? I approve! Perhaps they will buy enough to challenge Outworld! Though if I know the US military industrial complex they will be useless against magic. I have seen stranger things.

Normalize Relations? Or Annihilate Them!

Niinami wants to 'normalize the relations' and 'upgrade' things between the U.S. and Japan. Normal? Upgrade? I prefer things a little more…chaotic. But perhaps this 'normalization' will lead to a grand tournament between nations where warriors can settle these economic disputes with honor and a bit of fire. One can only hope.

Final Thoughts: From Hell and Japan

So Japan doesn't like the current plan but they want to keep investing in the U.S. because of productivity. More production means more potential for destruction! Maybe. I still think swords and fire are better solutions than trade agreements but what do I know? I'm just a specter of vengeance. Now if you'll excuse me I have a Sub Zero to find. GET OVER HERE! To read more news obviously!
