Deadline? More Like a Guideline!

Alright folks! Saul Goodman here your favorite attorney/fixer/connoisseur of fine print! Seems Uncle Sam's playing his usual game of deadline roulette with the European Union. July 9th they say? That's the date when the tariff hammer might drop again. But let's be real these deadlines are about as firm as a Jell O mold in a New Mexico heatwave. Remember what I always say: 'Never trust a man in a blue suit!' or was that 'Never trust a deadline set by a guy who likes to change his mind?' Either way same difference!

Agreement in Principle? Sounds Like a Plea Bargain!

Apparently a full trade deal is 'impossible' before the deadline according to some fancy pants over in Brussels. All they're hoping for is an 'agreement in principle.' Sounds a lot like a plea bargain to me. You know 'We didn't *really* do anything wrong Your Honor but we'll agree to this little something to make it all go away.' The EU's sweating bullets to avoid a 50% levy on their exports. Fifty percent! That's almost as bad as the markup on my 'World's Best Lawyer' mugs!

Brussels Sprouts and Trade Routes!

Keep your eyes peeled on Brussels this Tuesday and Wednesday! That's when the European finance ministers get together for their pow wow. Hopefully they'll spill the beans on their plan to avoid the tariff apocalypse. I'm picturing a bunch of suits huddled around a table desperately trying to come up with a loophole big enough to drive a Mack truck through. I've been there done that bought the t shirt!

Now let's talk about something even slicker than my courtroom maneuvers: oil! The OPEC Seminar is back in Vienna and it's gonna be a regular circus of sheiks CEOs and enough black gold to make Scrooge McDuck jealous. This ain't your daddy's OPEC meeting. It's all happening at the fancy Hofburg Palace a far cry from the old concrete jungle where the press used to fight for scraps.

The Media Scrum: A Contact Sport!

Back in the day I saw CNBC anchors battling to get a sound bite. In those meetings it was better call saul cause it would get ugly and messy! But those days they were a media scrum was affectionately known by a much less polite term. Now this week the OPEC+ is deciding on another output hike. Volatile month for crude prices you see.

Merger Mania: Is BP and Shell About to Hook Up?

Keep your eyes on BP and Shell CEOs Murray Auchincloss and Wael Sawan they're going to be at the Seminar with the ministers! Everybody is looking for any clues that a much denied takeover could still be in the cards. It’s all about the Benjamin’s baby! A BP Shell merger? Now that's a deal so big it'd make even *my* head spin. The press will be all over it like vultures on a fresh carcass. But I’ll be watching from the sidelines sipping my finest tequila and waiting for the legal fireworks to begin. After all someone's gotta clean up the mess and I'm just the guy to do it.
