A New World to Plunder! (er Invest In)
Hark fellow Vikings and shield maidens! Ragnar Lothbrok speaks! Today I bring news not of pillage and conquest with my Viking longboats but of something equally daring: the world of finance! A company called Galaxy Digital led by a chieftain named Mike Novogratz has finally planted its flag on the Nasdaq! Like sailing West they faced many storms (regulatory delays they call them) but their longship has finally reached the shores of opportunity.
Four Years Lost in the Fog
Novogratz tells tales of battling with the U.S. regulators for four long years! Four years! That’s enough time to raid England several times over! They spent a fortune—more than $25 million!—and endured nine rounds of arguments (or 'comments,' as they politely call them). It should have taken 90 days but stretched to 1,320! By Odin's beard that's longer than it took me to figure out how to sail to Paris! But like a true Viking they persevered. What choice did they have? As I always say 'Even a fool knows you can't find what you're not looking for.'
Crypto and AI: The Axes of the Future
Novogratz claims Galaxy's strength lies in two fearsome weapons: crypto and AI. He believes these are the most exciting growth areas ready for institutional adoption. Apparently 'institutional adoption' is like convincing kings to join your raiding party – more power more loot! They are building data centers and investing in crypto – sounds like a modern day longship loaded with silver and slaves (though hopefully without the slaves!).
From Toronto to Valhalla (er Wall Street)
Galaxy has been trading in Toronto since 2020 but Novogratz knew the real glory (and riches) lie in the U.S. market. He says their visibility in Canada was only one thirtieth of what they could achieve in the United States. Imagine only raiding one thirtieth of England! Unthinkable! The U.S. market is deep like the ocean we Vikings sail. More opportunity for… let’s call it ‘investment.’
eToro's Trailblazing Fires the Way
Another company eToro has also successfully debuted on the Nasdaq. It seems the gods are finally smiling on crypto adjacent ventures after years of doubt. Perhaps the regulators are starting to see that this isn't just a passing storm but a new tide. And as I always say 'Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.' Let's hope these new players wield their power wisely.
Skål to New Beginnings!
So raise your horns shield brothers and sisters! Galaxy Digital has conquered the Nasdaq! They faced trials weathered storms and emerged victorious! Let us hope their ventures bring prosperity (and maybe a little chaos) to the world. After all as I've learned 'Life is a series of choices.' And they've chosen to sail to the West. Skål!
