Greetings shield brothers and shield maidens! Ragnar Lothbrok here reporting from the shores of… well not quite Kattegat. Seems these modern day Vikings in America are in a bit of a pickle. I hear tales of 'Treasury yields' plummeting faster than Ivar the Boneless on a sled. Apparently this 'President Trump' has unleashed a storm of 'tariffs' that are shaking the very foundations of their… what do they call it? Ah yes their 'economy'!

The Serpent's Kiss: A Bite in the Market

These tariffs they say are like a serpent's kiss – sweet at first but deadly in the end. The '10 year Treasury yield' has fallen and the '2 year Treasury yield' has dropped lower than Floki's sanity after a night of mushroom tea. And what does this mean? Even I Ragnar am trying to figure it out. But from what I gather it means trouble is brewing like a bad batch of Bjorn's ale.

The Allfather Demands Sacrifice: Rate Cuts on the Horizon

The wise men in pointy hats – they call them the 'Federal Reserve' – are now considering sacrificing some… 'rates' to appease the market gods. Seems they might cut these rates more times than I've raided Lindisfarne all in the year 2025! Five times they say! I've raided England less than that in my whole life! Are they mad? Perhaps as mad as my son Ivar but I digress. These cuts are meant to soothe the beast but will they be enough?

A Game of Hnefatafl: China Responds

But here's where it gets interesting. This Trump fellow thought he could play a game of Hnefatafl and win against the world but China has retaliated like a cornered wolf! They’ve slapped their own tariffs on American goods a 34% tariff. Even Bjorn Ironside would think twice before messing with those odds. And the EU they're sharpening their axes too promising countermeasures if things don't go their way. This is starting to look like a full blown trade war my friends!

Trump's Medicine: Bitter or Poison?

Trump in his infinite wisdom compares these tariffs to 'taking medicine to fix something.' But I say sometimes the medicine is poison! Is he trying to heal the land or simply give it a slow and agonizing death? Only Odin knows. As I always say "I don't believe in the gods. I believe in my destiny." but perhaps even my destiny is tied to this madness now unfolding across the ocean.

Valhalla Awaits... or Economic Ruin?

So what's next? Will the American longship weather this storm or will it sink to the bottom of the sea leaving only wreckage and regret? Will there be riches or ruins? Only time will tell.
