By Odin's beard! It seems these American politicians are at each other's throats again. Speaker Mike Johnson a man who reminds me a bit of poor King Aelle before the blood eagle is struggling to herd his cats... or rather his Republicans. They're arguing over this 'big beautiful' tax bill of Trump's. 'Big' and 'beautiful' you say? Sounds like something I'd name my longship! But alas this 'treasure' seems to be causing more strife than a stolen cow.

Freedom Fighters or Treacherous Snakes?

This 'Freedom Caucus,' led by a chap named Andy Harris sounds like my old crew always questioning my plans! But are they loyal warriors or just trying to carve out their own little kingdoms? They met with Trump this 'President' fellow at the White House. A 'hastily arranged effort,' they say? Sounds like someone's raiding party got ambushed! "We're trying to meet our deadline," Johnson whines. Deadlines! Bah! A true Viking makes his own time though I do confess even I felt the pressure when Lagertha gave me 'that look'.

Markets Plunge Valhalla Waits?

The markets are tumbling like a berserker who's had one too many horns of ale. Seems this bill might lead to 'exploding federal deficits.' Deficits! Are they like the dragons in the East Anglia? A great fire threatening to devour everything? The yield on some '30 year Treasury bond' is hitting 5.09%. What in Thor's name is a Treasury bond? Is that what they use to tie down the Allfather? I would never!

Trump's Warning: Don't 'F Around With Medicaid'!

Trump in his infinite wisdom warned these Republicans not to 'f around with Medicaid.' Sounds like a battle cry worthy of Valhalla! He even visited their 'Capitol' to rally the troops. A true leader knows when to remind his warriors of the spoils of victory... or the consequences of defeat! The 'Medicaid' is apparently for the poorest of the land so 'f ing around' with it wouldn't be considered honourable in my books. Not very Viking like I say.

The Rich Get Richer the Poor Get Poorer?

The 'nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office' – sounds like a bunch of shieldmaidens keeping track of the loot – says the rich will get richer and the poor... well they'll get poorer. Is this what they call 'progress'? Back in Kattegat we shared the spoils... mostly. Fine sometimes I took a little extra. But that was because I was Ragnar Lothbrok! Now I'm beginning to think my sons made a mess of England.

Will This Bill Ever See the Light of Day?

So will this 'tax bill' pass? Will Johnson survive? Will Trump get his 'big beautiful' victory? Only the Norns know for sure. But one thing is certain: politics is a battlefield and these Republicans are proving to be less coordinated than my sons were during our first raid on England. I always told them 'Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.' Perhaps they should heed my words. If not maybe I'll raid Washington myself!
