A Feast of Words or Just Empty Skulls?
Hark news from across the great oceans! They say the Americans and the Chinese have been jawing like old women at a well and now claim to have struck a deal. Howard Lutnick a man I've never met but whose name sounds suspiciously like a weak ale says they've reached a 'framework.' A framework! Is that anything more than just sticks and stones? I've built better frameworks to burn Lagertha's enemies. These 'leaders,' Trump and Xi must now nod their heads. If not back to raiding we go!
The Geneva What Now?
Apparently this whole kerfuffle started with something called the 'Geneva agreement.' Sounds like a treaty scribbled by monks. They say they paused some tariffs those taxes that make even a Viking think twice about buying a new axe. But is it a true peace or just a breather before the next clash? Only Odin knows and he's not telling. I always say 'The gods will decide your fate,' but perhaps this time the fate of the world depends on two men and their scribes.
Rare Earths and Rusty Swords
Lutnick (that ale sounding fellow) also mentioned something about 'rare earth exports.' Apparently the Chinese have been holding back some shiny rocks and the Americans are offering to lift restrictions on selling them fancy gadgets. Seems like a fair trade but remember what I told Athelstan 'Never trust a Christian.' Perhaps we should apply the same principle to all foreigners bearing gifts especially those who haggle over rocks!
Taped Together by Leverage? Sounds About Right
Some clever fellow named Scott Kennedy says this deal is held together by 'leverage,' not 'common principles.' Hah! Like anyone ever made a deal based on principles. We Vikings understand leverage. You take what you want and you keep it if you can. It's a simple principle and it's worked wonders for me. I would rather have strength and use it than weakness and surrender.
Silence From the Dragon's Mouth
The Chinese they say were quieter than a Kattegat mouse after these announcements. Their news bringers usually quick to boast were slow to chirp. Suspicious I say! Perhaps they are plotting something. One must always be wary of silence. As I told my sons 'Fear is more powerful than love.' And a silent enemy is a fearsome one indeed.
Stock Futures Down? Blame the Gods!
Finally they say the 'stock futures' are down. Who cares about stock futures? I care about the future of my raids! If the gods will it we will sail and conquer. These stock futures sound like another way to gamble. It is a fools game. Remember there are always consequences! And the Gods decide your fate. I will just trust in my sword and my men.
