To Valhalla... or the Junkyard?
Hark shield brothers! News from the East where the steel horses of the future clash! It seems these Chinese… they have taken our raiding spirit and applied it to *cars*. Xpeng they call one of their tribes. They boast of many metal beasts delivered – 34,611 in the last moon cycle! Eight moons straight they've bested 30,000. But even a dragon's hoard can be plundered can it not? Their shares rise but so does the challenge. As I always say 'Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.'
Price Wars: A Feast for the Masses A Famine for the Chiefs?
A price war rages! These… *electric* chariots are being sold like ale at a winter feast! But even the Emperor himself Xi Jinping frowns upon this 'involution' as they call it. Too much squabbling over scraps not enough forging of better steel perhaps? 'Never trust a man entirely,' I say 'especially if he fights fair.' The government is getting involved which means someone's about to feel the edge of the axe.
Rivals Sharpen Their Axes
Xpeng's rivals those targeting the… *premium* segments struggle to keep pace. Zeekr sees their numbers fall. Nio? A slight increase buoyed by their newer cheaper brands. Li Auto delivered less than last month but still doing fine. It seems even in this new world everyone is fighting for their place at the table! Some have their strategies like focusing on brands or doing a better service. Reminds me of when Floki tried to build that boat. Some of these car builders are clearly losing their mind perhaps they should try some magic mushrooms.
Tesla Feels the Serpent's Bite
Ah Tesla. Elon Musk's folly it would seem. Xiaomi the phone makers now craft chariots cheaper than Tesla's Model Y! They promise greater range though Tesla's 'assisted driving' is supposedly superior. A long wait for these Xiaomi cars… could it be clever marketing or simple incompetence? Some scalpers are buying the cars that shows something is wrong with the world. And Tesla is even raising their price! Soon they will be banished from Valhalla. Still they are the fifth largest in the market. Perhaps it's just a temporary wound.
Giants Clash Minnows Swim
Others like Leapmotor and Aito also fight on. But BYD... there is the true behemoth. 377,628 cars in the last moon cycle! Their numbers dwarf the others. In the long run BYD Xiaomi and Geely will most likely survive. Nio despite having a 'great product,' is at risk of falling in battle due to poor finances. Remember what I always say 'Life is a choice. You can choose fear or you can choose faith.'
The Future is Electric. Or is it?
This 'electric' future… is it truly progress or just another way to wage war? These metal beasts they lack the romance of a longship the power of a storm the smell of blood and salt. But perhaps… perhaps they offer new lands to conquer new sagas to be written. As I once said 'I want to be remembered as someone who dared to dream impossible things.' I wonder will these Chinese electric charioteers be remembered for their daring or their greed?
