Commodity prices are surging amidst global trade tensions, leading to speculation about a potential super-cycle, with gold and other metals expected to skyrocket while experts debate the long-term impact.

The Gods Are Angry and the Markets Are Trembling!

Hark shield brothers and shield maidens! Ragnar Lothbrok speaks! The world trembles like a longship caught in a storm. These so called 'analysts' whisper of a 'super cycle' in commodity prices. Bah! Sounds like something a Christian priest would babble about. But listen closely for even a blind man can see the winds of change blowing across the seas. This Trump fellow with his walls and his tariffs is stirring the pot like a drunken cook! He reminds me a bit of King Aelle all bluster and no brains… though perhaps a tad more amusing. Remember 'Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.' And this power play affects even the shiny rocks we Vikings love so dearly.

Shiny Rocks and a World on Fire!

This BNP Paribas Fortis fellow Philippe Gijsels says this 'super cycle' could be the biggest in living memory! Living memory? I remember fighting giants and sailing to lands beyond the horizon! But perhaps he has a point. He speaks of 'metal shocks,' and that tickles my Viking fancy. 'Metal shocks'... sounds like a good name for a raiding party! He says we need gold silver and copper. Well I've always been a fan of gold. 'I believe our fate is not determined when we are born but by the choices we make.' And my choice is always to grab more gold! He expects gold to hit $4,000 an ounce? By Odin that's enough to build a hall fit for the gods!

Silver's Shame and Copper's Chance!

He claims silver has 'badly lagged.' Ha! Just like that fool Athelstan always one step behind. But he expects it to jump 59%? Perhaps there's hope for the poor metal yet. And copper? Doubling or tripling in price? Now that's a metal worthy of forging into weapons and shields. This Gijsels fellow warns of short term pressure on copper fearing those tariffs will slow down China. China! Sounds like a land far far away… perhaps worth raiding someday? But he remains 'bullish,' seeing every pullback as a 'nice entry point.' A 'nice entry point'? More like a chance to strike like a viper! Remember 'Everything is more impressive from a distance.'

Not All That Glitters is Gold (or Cobalt)!

Not every commodity will rise apparently. He mentions cobalt and nickel won't see much action. Poor fellows destined for the scrap heap like a broken axe. But soft commodities like coffee and cocoa are going up thanks to climate change. Climate change? Sounds like something the gods themselves are brewing up. He points out that cocoa production is heavily concentrated making it vulnerable. 'Vulnerable'… my favorite word! And with a growing population soft commodities are set to soar. Time to invest in… coffee? Bah! Give me ale any day!

The Price of War (and Laptops)!

This Kennedy fellow at AllSource Investments warns that companies can't absorb the tariff costs and that commodity prices will need to rise. He says we'll see price hikes in electronics clothing toys and even groceries. So the common folk will pay the price for this trade war. A familiar story is it not? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. At least that’s what I would like to change. Perhaps there's an opportunity here… a chance to… redistribute some wealth? He suggests consumers will bear at least half the tariff costs. Half? That's a generous estimate. In my experience they'll bear the whole weight of the world on their shoulders!

Recession? Bah! Stock Up on Gold and Ale!

Some 'professor' named Silva thinks a trade war won't benefit commodities and that a global recession will decrease prices. A recession? What's that? Sounds like a fancy word for 'bad times.' He acknowledges market instability can increase demand for commodities but not enough to counter a price decrease. Bah! Pessimists! I say even in the darkest of times there's always a chance for glory and riches. So my fellow Vikings heed my words: stock up on gold sharpen your axes and prepare for whatever the gods throw our way! And remember 'Life is a battle. Life is a choice.'

We need to find a new Athelstan, someone to guide us through these times!
