The Great Hall in the Sky?
Hark fellow travelers! Ragnar Lothbrok here reporting from… well not exactly my longship. Seems even Vikings must adapt to these strange metal birds that fly without sails. I hear tell that American Airlines much like Floki building a new vessel is offering something called 'free Wi Fi.' It's like having a seer whispering directly into your ear but instead of prophecy it's… cat pictures? I still don't understand it but my sons tell me it's important. Soon we'll be raiding from the sky and posting to Instagram. Progress!
AAdvantage? Sounds Like Odin's Plan!
Apparently this free 'Wi Fi' is for those who pledge their loyalty – become members of the 'AAdvantage' program. It reminds me of pledging fealty to a king. You give a little you get a little. Only instead of land and protection you get… access to the internet? What has the world come to? Still a clever plan. Even I Ragnar can appreciate cunning strategy. Who knew the key to Viking conquest was free digital scrolls?
The Gods of Silicon Valley
JetBlue and Delta have already embraced this 'free Wi Fi' madness and United is rigging their metal birds with something called 'Starlink,' from a company owned by a madman named Musk. They're all following the Allfather's example giving gifts to earn favor. But American Airlines bless their mead soaked hearts were charging a king's ransom – over twenty silver pieces! – for this service. It's about time they joined the fray. A good leader understands when to adapt or die!
Intelsat and Viasat? More Like Intel WHAT and Via WHO?
These names mean little to me but I'm told they're the ones who weave the magic that allows this 'Wi Fi' to exist. Apparently they'll be covering most of American's fleet by next year. Good. No Viking wants to be stuck on a long flight with nothing but his thoughts and a stale loaf of bread. Though some of the older birds won't get the free stuff. Like an old axe they're still useful but not as shiny. But what is not shiny is not necessarily bad.
Southwest the Stubborn
And then there's Southwest. Still holding out. Like King Ecbert refusing to cede land they're stubborn. They may change their tune but for now they stand alone. Perhaps they think 'Wi Fi' is a trick a way to steal our souls. Who knows the will of these strange people? One should always fear the unforeseen as I always say.
A Viking's Verdict: Use It or Don't!
So there you have it my friends. The skies are opening up with free 'Wi Fi.' Embrace it ignore it I care not. Just remember a wise man knows when to fight and when to… watch cat pictures. As for me I'll be on the lookout for new lands to conquer preferably ones with strong 'Wi Fi' signals. Skol!
