A Cockroach? Really!?
Right so I was reading this thing see? About this company called Hinge Health. Apparently they used to give out something called the 'Cockroach Award.' A cockroach! I mean I've had a few run ins with those blighters especially under the sofa cushions after a particularly enthusiastic jelly bean binge. But giving an award? Bit much innit? And a t shirt? Well at least it's something to wear when I'm painting – beats my good suit getting covered in magnolia again! The award was for being tough like a cockroach. Teddy gets that award from me daily for the same reason he's always falling off places but always gets back up! I wonder if they gave out sweets with it? If not what’s the point? If you know what I mean!
From London to San Francisco: Bean's Big Trip Idea
They moved from London to San Francisco these Hinge Health chaps. San Francisco! I've only seen it in pictures but I bet there are plenty of places to park my Mini. And think of all the cafes! Maybe I could introduce them to the wonders of a proper cuppa. And a Mr. Bean approved cucumber sandwich. Their CEO Daniel Perez seems like a serious sort. No time for silly faces I suppose. They are going public apparently which is like a scary film for companies where they have to impress everyone. And going public now? It’s like trying to rollerskate up a staircase! Risky business. I wonder if they need a professional tea maker and sandwich artist? I could offer my services naturally.
Money Money Money! Always Sunny!
So this Hinge Health is all about helping people with their aches and pains. Bit like when I tried to fix Mrs. Wicket's back with that complicated pulley system. Didn't quite go to plan did it? But they use apps and gadgets fancy stuff. They made loads of money lost some money but are now making more again. It is a little bit like trying to pay for something in the supermarket with just buttons and hoping to get it right. And their clients have increased. Now this all sounds complicated and I'm more of a 'smack it 'til it works' sort of fellow but good for them. Making money is better than not making money as I always say. The most important thing is being able to afford a new pair of socks. After all you can never have too many socks. Or baked beans.
Family Matters: Bean's Extended Family?
Daniel Perez the boss man sounds like a determined sort. His brother thought he was mad for not finishing his studies. But look at him now! It just goes to show that sometimes the best thing to do is ignore everyone and do what Mr. Bean would do follow your heart. Well follow your heart as long as it leads to the nearest biscuit tin. I wonder if his brother ever gets jealous. Maybe they should have a competition to see who can put their socks on the fastest. That's always a good way to settle things in my book. He was hit by a car when he was younger so it is good he's doing so well!
The Bean Philosophy: If It Ain't Broke… Make It Better?
Mr. Perez likes memos apparently. Long detailed memos. Not a slide deck. Much more old school than Mr Bean I like just doing. I can barely manage a shopping list! Although I did once try to write a novel. It was mostly pictures. And the ending was a bit abrupt. He gets employees to read books! Not comics mind you but proper business books. Sounds like hard work. But then again nothing worthwhile is easy is it? Except maybe opening a can of beans. I am not so sure about that to be honest
The Future Is Bright (Maybe?)
So Hinge Health is trying to make a big splash. Will they succeed? Only time will tell. But they've got cockroaches on their side so that's got to count for something. Right? Although there are no cockroaches anymore it is all about 'movers' now. The founder's brother is very proud of him even though he is less successful. In the end its not about the money or the awards its about doing your best. And hopefully not dropping your ice cream down the drain.
