Alright alright alright! So I was chatting with my buddies at The Drunken Clam – you know just the usual scoping out the talent – and we started talking about biotech stocks. Apparently they've been having a rough go of it. Down more than 11% this year? That's worse than my chances with Jennifer Aniston! Higher interest rates staffing reductions...it's like a triple whammy of sadness. Makes a guy want to just say 'Giggity' and forget about it all. But hold on there's a glimmer of hope...and it's got AI written all over it!

AI to the Rescue? Hubba Hubba!

Now this is where it gets interesting fellas (and ladies if you're into that sort of thing!). Some brainiac over at Jefferies a Michael Yee is saying that generative AI is going to be the Viagra for biotech stocks. Apparently it can save companies YEARS and BILLIONS in drug discovery. Years people! That's like saying I could have spent less time trying to woo Loretta! 'Giggity giggity goo!'

Cut Time Cut Costs Cut...Well You Know

Yee this smart fella says that finding a new drug is usually a billion dollar ten year affair. And 90% of them FAIL! That's a lot of money going down the drain folks. But with AI we could cut that time down significantly maybe even in half the time and increase the odds of success. That’s like going from a blind date with Meg to a night out with Mila Kunis! The mind boggles at the possibilities. Although I'd still take a shot with Meg. You never know right?

Future is Now Baby!

So what does this all mean? Well according to Yee in about five years we're going to see a ton of new drugs in the clinic that were basically cooked up by AI. It's like science fiction come to life! Remember that time Brian built a time machine? Well this is almost as cool. Almost. 'Alright!'

Amgen and Friends: The AI Dream Team

Who's leading the charge? Amgen apparently is using AI to analyze human datasets. Sounds fancy! Other companies like Schrodinger Illumina and Danaher are also getting in on the action. It's like the Avengers but instead of fighting Thanos they're fighting diseases with algorithms! Giggity!

Look I'm no financial advisor – I'm more of a 'how you doin'?' advisor – but this AI biotech thing sounds pretty promising. There might be some bumps in the road regulatory challenges and such but it seems like the potential upside is huge. So my advice? Do your research maybe talk to a real expert (not me!) and consider investing in these companies.
