Alright alright alright! Quagmire here reporting live from… well my bedroom but that's not the point! The big question everyone's asking is: with costs soaring higher than my chances on prom night is college still worth the trouble? Apparently the eggheads at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York crunched the numbers and they're saying “Giggity!” It seems a degree still pays off for most folks. But hold your horses it's not all sunshine and… you know. The article claims that the total cost of a college degree is around $180,000 in 2024. That's a lot of scratch. I could buy a sweet mobile home and cruise the country meeting lots of young… uh intellectuals!

Now here's the kicker: the researchers say that despite the cost you can expect a 12.5% return on your investment. That's like finding a twenty in your old pair of pants. The Fed folks are saying the benefit generally outweighs the costs! But just remember they're probably also saying I can't park my woodie wagon outside the library... I will prevail!

Tuition prices have been doing the limbo for years but the net price has been dropping recently which means you might save a couple of bucks there Giggity. Now here's a tip from yours truly: your major matters! Engineering math and computer degrees? Those are the gold mines. You're looking at an 18% return. Education degrees? Not so much. Less than 6%. So unless you're passionate about teaching little rugrats maybe reconsider? Unless those teachers are hot I mean... Then by all means GO FOR IT!
