Life is Like a Highway or is it a Parking Lot?

Mama always said 'Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get.' Well this news about President Trump and California's electric cars is kinda like that. See California along with a whole bunch of other states they wanted everyone to drive electric cars by 2035. Said it was good for the air and all. But then like a storm coming outta nowhere Congress and President Trump stepped in and said 'Nope can't do that!' Mr. Trump he even said he was 'rescuing the auto industry.' Now I ain't no smart man but that sounds a bit like saying you're rescuing a shrimp boat from a hurricane by well lettin' the hurricane keep goin'. Makes you wonder don't it?

Run Forrest Run (to the Courthouse!)

Well Governor Newsom of California he wasn't too happy. He said Trump was hurtin' the air and makin' America less competitive. So California and them other states they did what any sensible body would do: they sued! They went to the judge and asked him to say that Trump's decision didn't mean nothin'. It's like when Bubba was tellin' me all about shrimp and I just wanted to go home. Sometimes you gotta fight for what you believe in like Jenny always did even if it means runnin' all the way to the courthouse.

Zero Emission Trucks? Sounds Kinda Like Shrimpin' with No Shrimp!

And it ain't just cars! They're talkin' 'bout trucks too. California wanted more of them zero emission trucks the kind that don't cough out all that nasty smoke. But Trump he put the kibosh on that too. Said it wasn't fair to the car companies. Now I'm not sure what's fair and what ain't but I do know clean air is somethin' everyone needs like a good pair of shoes when you're runnin' a marathon.

The Government Said What Now?

Now the Government Accountability Office that's a mouthful said that what Trump did wasn't quite right. But some folks in the Senate they didn't listen. Seems like sometimes people don't listen even when you're yellin' as loud as Lieutenant Dan in a storm. Makes you scratch your head don't it?

All them car companies like General Motors and Stellantis and Toyota they were happy as clams about Trump's decision. Said California's rules were too hard and made cars more expensive. They said Trump was standin' up for the customers. It's kinda like when Bubba said there was a million ways to cook shrimp. Everyone's got a different opinion don't they?

EPA Speaks its Mind: California Throws a Temper Tantrum

The EPA they weren't too pleased with California's lawsuit. They said California was just throwin' a tantrum 'cause folks didn't like their rules. Well I don't know about tantrums but I do know that sometimes you gotta stand up for what you believe in even if it's just runnin' across America or startin' a shrimpin' business.
