Run Forrest Run...From the Flood!

Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get. Well folks in Texas got a whole lotta somethin' they didn't order – a flash flood! Sheriff Larry Leitha down in Kerr County says there's still eleven campers and a counselor missin'. Seems like the Guadalupe River decided to go for a swim and took some folks with it. Kinda like when I ran across America but wetter and not so voluntary.

Seventy is as Seventy Does

This floodin' ain't no picnic I tell you what. They found almost seventy folks gone bless their hearts. Some were just chillin' by the Guadalupe River includin' children. They say they won't stop lookin' 'til everyone's found. That's good. Never give up like when I was playin' ping pong for world peace. I may not be a smart man but I know what love is and that means never leavin' anyone behind if you can help it.

Kerr County is a Mighty Big Place But Not Big Enough for This Flood

Most of this here trouble's in Kerr County the heart of Texas Hill Country. Adults kids the whole shebang gone with the water. I heard there were deaths in Travis Burnet and Kendall counties too. The rescuers are climbin' over broken trees and muck tryin' to find folks. It's like tryin' to find a needle in a haystack or Lieutenant Dan's legs after the jungle.

Camp Mystic? More Like Camp Misery!

Seems like a bunch of the missin' were at Camp Mystic a Christian summer camp. I ain't one to judge but that name don't sound too lucky right now. The water rose faster than Bubba could eat shrimp – 26 feet in 45 minutes! Washed away homes and cars. I reckon people are askin' if they got enough warnin'. Sometimes life is like a storm you just gotta find your umbrella or a good buddy who can hold you tight.

Prayers and Helicopters: A Texan Combo

Governor Abbott declared a day of prayer. Said they'll work 'round the clock. Even the Pope in Rome said a prayer! That's somethin'. Searchers are usin' helicopters and boats like somethin' out of a movie. They rescued over 850 people. That's a lot of rescued folks! It's like when I saved all those guys in Vietnam from the ambush or at least tried to.

Flash Flood Alley and Second Guessing

They call this area 'Flash Flood Alley'. Sounds like a place you wanna avoid if you ask me. The National Weather Service gave warnin's but folks say they didn't expect it to be this bad. Congressman Chip Roy says there'll be finger pointin'. Well sometimes things just happen. Just gotta keep on truckin' like when I was runnin' across America for no particular reason. One step at a time y'know? You just gotta put the past behind you before you can move on.
