Like Peas and Carrots... or Maybe Not!

Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get. Well this news about Ukraine and Russia reminds me of that box. Mr. Putin announced a ceasefire for Easter but Ukraine they're not so sure about it. Said they'd do the same if it's real. It's like when Bubba told me about all the ways to cook shrimp you gotta make sure it's cooked right or you get the runs. This ceasefire it's gotta be the real deal.

Run Forrest Run... From the Artillery!

President Zelenskyy he's saying if Russia really means it Ukraine will mirror it. Said it could show Moscow's true intentions. It's like when I ran across America some folks believed in what I was doing some didn't. But I just kept running. Zelenskyy says if the ceasefire goes beyond Easter that'll show if Russia's serious cause '30 hours are enough for headlines but not for genuine confidence building measures.' That sounds like some smart people talk right there.

War is Heck! Even at Easter Time

Mr. Sybiha the Ukrainian Foreign Minister he pointed out that they already agreed to a ceasefire with the U.S. a while back but Russia said no. Now he's saying Putin's just talking. 'Unfortunately we have had a long history of his statements not matching his actions.' Sounds like someone who tells you they'll play ping pong but then just stands there staring at the net. Just like when Lieutenant Dan kept staring out to the sea after the war. Didn't trust nothin'.

POW Exchange! Home is Where You Make it (Back To)

They traded prisoners too. Lots of them! Mr. Zelenskyy said many Ukrainian "warriors" came home. One fella Ihor hadn't seen his mom in three years and he lost a lot of weight. His momma said 'We call on the entire world on every country — help us bring all our boys home.' That kinda tugs at your heartstrings don't it? Like when Jenny and I well you know...when we were apart.

Russia Says They're Winning! Ukraine Says Hold On!

Russia said they pushed Ukrainian troops out of some areas but Zelenskyy said his folks are still holding their ground. It's like a tug of war back and forth. Remember when I played ping pong in the army? Back and forth back and forth. Some days you win some days you get hit in the head with the ball.

Drones and Fires! Like the Fourth of July But Not Fun

And there were drones and fires. Ukrainian air force saying Russia fired a bunch of drones and decoys. They shot some down some got lost. Russia said they shot down Ukrainian drones too. Mama always said 'Stupid is as stupid does.' Makes you wonder about all this fightin'. I just wish they could all sit down and talk like me and Bubba talked about shrimp.
