Another Day Another Disaster… I Mean Deal!
Alright people Ripley here. Seems like the world’s gone completely bonkers again but what else is new? This time it involves trade deals between the U.S. and the U.K. Apparently Vice President JD Vance thinks there’s a "good chance" of a deal with America. Good chance? Last time someone said "good chance," I ended up face to face with a Xenomorph. Color me skeptical.
Trump's Transatlantic Love Affair
Vance claims Trump loves the United Kingdom. He loved the Queen (RIP your majesty). He admires the King. Cultural affinity he says. Business relationships he says. Sounds like a whole lot of corporate b.s. to me. "Affinity" doesn't stop a Xenomorph from ripping your face off and it certainly doesn't stop a bad trade deal. Trump he's still out there. Like a bad penny and facehugger.
The Tariff Tango
So the U.K. got off relatively easy with Trump's tariffs a measly 10% duty compared to the EU’s 20%. They call that being “relatively unscathed.” I call it delaying the inevitable. And of course this deal will be in the best interest of *both* countries sure. Just like Ash said the company had our best interests at heart. Remember how that turned out? "I can't lie to you about your chances but... you have my sympathies."
Europe's Got Problems Too!
Meanwhile the rest of Europe’s got a volatile relationship with the States. Trump slapped a 20% tariff on the EU and they retaliated. A real catfight. But then Trump pulled back halved the tariff and now everyone’s hoping for a trade deal. Sounds like a lot of backpedaling to me. Just like Burke promising to get us home safe after that little hiccup on LV 426.
Vance's "Love" for Europe (Yeah Right)
Vance says he loves Europe. "I love European people," he claims. Sure buddy. I bet he also loves facehuggers. He wants Europe to up its defense spending and be less of a "security vassal" of the U.S. So basically he wants them to pay up. It's a goddamn bug hunt! Where's my M41A pulse rifle when I need it?
The Bottom Line: Stay Frosty!
Look whether it's Xenomorphs or trade deals the lesson's the same: Don't trust anyone. Corporate interests political promises it's all the same game. "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." But since that's probably not an option here just stay frosty. You never know what's lurking around the corner. Over and out.
