Another Day Another Nightmare

Alright listen up. This isn't LV 426 but it's just as ugly. Remember when I said 'I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit – it's the only way to be sure?' Well that's how I feel about this whole Amazon tariff mess. Apparently some guy named Aaron Cordovez who sells kitchen gadgets – *kitchen gadgets* people! – is having a meltdown because of Trump's trade war with China. Ten years he's been selling on Amazon and now it's all going south faster than a Dropship hitting atmosphere without a heat shield.

The Price of Milk Frothers Just Went Up!

So this Cordovez fella he's trying to move his production to India and Mexico faster than I can say 'Get away from her you b*tch!' But it's gonna take a year or two he says. Meanwhile he's jacking up prices on his milk frothers and s'mores roasting sticks. A kitchen strainer went from $9.99 to $12.99! I mean seriously? People are gonna be fighting over strainers like they're facehuggers. And get this – other sellers are hiking prices on everything from diaper bags to charm necklaces. Who knew the apocalypse would start with overpriced jewelry?

Amazon's Darkest Secret: The Third Party Marketplace

Turns out about 60% of Amazon's online sales come from these third party sellers and a lot of them are either based in China or rely on Chinese manufacturing. Now they're caught between a rock and a hard place – raise prices or eat the extra costs. It's a damn existential threat like facing a Xenomorph queen with a rusty butter knife. Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy says they're trying to keep prices low but he admits some sellers will have to pass the cost on to us the poor saps who just want a decent coffee maker without selling our kidneys.

Chinese Sellers Feeling the Heat

Some company called SmartScout says they've tracked almost a thousand products on Amazon with increased prices since April. And get this – about 25% of the price hikes were initiated by sellers *in China*. A stainless steel jewelry maker called Ursteel and an apparel brand called Chouyatou have already raised prices. And Anker a big electronics brand has jacked up the price of a portable power bank from $110 to $135! I'm telling you this is worse than finding out Ash is a Company man.

Layoffs and License Plates From Hell

Cordovez the kitchen gadget guy has had to lay off almost 20% of his workforce and slash ad spending by 85%. Another company Desert Cactus is trying to move production out of China too. Their president Joe Stefani says the import and shipping fees on his customizable license plates have skyrocketed from 4% to 170%! 'The tariffs can't stay this high,' he says. 'There's so many people that just aren't going to make it.' Sounds like the Nostromo crew facing a Xenomorph with no escape pods.

Stretching Inventory and Praying for a Miracle

Dave Dama from Pure Daily Care says the price to manufacture one of his skin care products in China has jumped from $10 to $25. He's planning to stagger price increases to avoid getting buried by Amazon's algorithms. He's also stretching his inventory and hoping for a trade deal. 'We can try to stretch that seven eight nine months which buys us a lot more time for this thing to work out hopefully.' Yeah good luck with that pal. Last time I relied on hope I ended up face to face with a Xenomorph. My advice? Invest in a flamethrower... and maybe a decent kitchen strainer before the price goes up again.

So, basically, everything is going to cost more. Thanks, Trump!
