Another Day Another Planet... I Mean Tech Giant
Alright people Ripley here. You know me – always running into things that want to eat my face off. But this AMD thing? It's almost as scary. Turns out their board just gave the thumbs up to a $6 billion share buyback. Six BILLION! That’s enough to buy a whole lotta flamethrowers... or maybe just keep the shareholders happy for a while. Stock jumped 6% so someone's doing something right I guess. Don't forget about the four billion they already had approved. They're practically swimming in cash... enough to make Weyland Yutani jealous.
Lisa Su's Got More Than a Pulse Rifle
AMD's CEO Lisa Su says this whole thing shows the board's got 'confidence.' Confidence? Last time I heard someone say that we were knee deep in Xenomorphs. But hey she says it's about 'strategic direction' and 'growth prospects.' Maybe she's got a better motion tracker than I do. They're apparently generating 'strong free cash flow.' Must be nice. I'm still trying to figure out how to get paid for all the overtime dealing with those damn aliens.
AI: Friend or Foe... Again?
So AMD made 96 cents per share on $7.44 billion in revenue. Numbers numbers... all I see are dollar signs. They are apparently the second most important AI chip company after Nvidia. Reminds me of Ash. Always trying to 'help' while having other less than human plans. And the Saudi Arabia deal? A potential $10 billion investment in some AI company called Humain? Ten BILLION! Looks like someone is going big on AI. I still don't trust it though.
Su's Soujourn in the Sands
Lisa Su was hanging out in Saudi Arabia sealing the deal. I bet the sand's not as much fun as a jungle planet. They are selling graphics processors and central processors to Humain who also happens to be buying processors from Nvidia. 'Any questions?' Yeah a million. Like are they planning on building a new breed of synthetic humans or just better coffee makers? Because one is much more scary.
Price Targets: Higher Than My Blood Pressure
Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya slapped another $10 on AMD's price target bringing it to $130 a share. These 'analysts' are always making predictions. Kind of like Bishop trying to predict the Xenomorph's movements. Mostly just ends in tears if you ask me. But hey if you're into this whole stock market thing maybe it's a good sign. Me? I'm sticking to the flamethrower strategy.
Game Over Man? More Like Game On!
So there you have it. AMD's got the cash the deals and apparently the 'confidence' to keep rolling. As for me I'll be here watching. Waiting. Hoping they don't create anything that needs a pulse rifle to deal with. Because let's face it I'm getting too old for this… even if my employer Weyland Yutani is not.
