Aw gee whiz! It seems like every time I look the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (that's a mouthful even for me!) is changing its mind. Under ol' Donald – not me the *other* Donald – they pulled back on a rule and now they're doin' it again! This time it's about those Buy Now Pay Later things. You know BNPL? Even *I* had to ask Huey Dewey and Louie what that meant! Seems complicated like tryin' to build a boat outta toothpicks!

Truth in Lending? More Like Truth in...Lending Confusion!

This here rule started when Joe Biden was callin' the shots said these BNPL fellas were kinda like credit card companies. That meant they had to follow all sorts of rules like tellin' ya 'bout all the sneaky little fees and helpin' ya when things go wrong. But now the CFPB says 'Aw phooey on that!' They ain't gonna bother so much with makin' sure they follow those rules. It's like sayin' I don't gotta wear my sailor suit anymore! Unthinkable! But hey don't go quackers just yet...

Affirm ative Action...Against Regulations!

The BNPL companies like Affirm were cryin' foul! They said all those rules made things too confusing for folks. Affirm even wrote a whole letter! A LETTER! I can barely write my own name! They said it was like tryin' to fit a square peg in a round hole. Or maybe like tryin' to get Daisy to agree on what color to paint the boat. IMPOSSIBLE!

Priorities Priorities! (and Shiny New Dinghies?)

The CFPB says they're lookin' at scrapin' the rule entirely! They say they need to focus on the *real* bad guys like the ones cheatin' on our brave soldiers vets and little businesses. Makes ya wanna salute doesn't it? But still makes ya wonder 'What about the average duck?'

Lawsuits and Tariff Troubles! Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy!

The Financial Technology Association even sued the CFPB! Can you believe it? Things are gettin' REALLY serious! Meanwhile Klarna another BNPL big shot was gonna go public but then those tariffs came along and everything went kablooey! Sounds like somethin' that would happen to *me*! One minute you're buildin' a sandcastle the next a giant wave comes and washes it all away!

Missing Payments and Money Problems: A Cautionary Tale!

But here's the kicker! A new survey says that almost HALF of the folks usin' these BNPL things are havin' money troubles! They're usin' 'em to buy groceries and missin' payments! That ain't good! It's like spendin' all your money on fireworks and then havin' nothin' left for Daisy's birthday! Gotta be careful with that moolah folks! Remember what Uncle Scrooge always says: 'A penny saved is a penny earned!' And sometimes a penny earned is a way to avoid a real headache!
