These Republicans were counting on saving a whole heap of moolah—tens of billions no less—from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP to help pay for those tax breaks. Now without that carrot their plans might just go kaput! It's like trying to build a rocket to the moon with just a slingshot and a rubber band. Utterly ridiculous I say!

Klobuchar's Korner: Fighting for Families!

That Sen. Amy Klobuchar she's got her ears on see? She's saying they'll keep fighting to protect families who need a little help. 'The Parliamentarian has made clear that Senate Republicans cannot use their partisan budget to shift major nutrition assistance costs to the states.' Good for her. It's like saying 'No way Jose!' to a coyote trying to swipe your Acme Instant Hole Kit.

Senate Shenanigans!

This bill has been a real headache! Late nights revisions and a thousand pages of who knows what. Seems like it's heading for serious trouble. The House already gave it the thumbs up but the Senate? Well that's another story. At its core it's all about extending those old tax cuts and adding new ones. But to pay for it they're eyeing cutbacks to Medicaid healthcare and… you guessed it food programs! That's despicable! It's like robbing Peter to pay Paul and then sticking Peter with the bill!

And if that wasn't enough the Congressional Budget Office those number crunching eggheads say this plan will add trillions to the nation's debt. Trillions I tell ya! Plus millions more will lose their healthcare coverage and millions will see their food stamps disappear. It's a real disaster in the making folks! A Grade A five star boondoggle! 'Sufferin' succotash!' as Sylvester the Cat would say.

What's Next Doc?

Now the Republicans have a few choices. They can try to rewrite the bill ditch the offending bits or risk a vote where they'll need a supermajority. Fat chance of that happening! The parliamentarian also flagged some other issues including those related to immigrants and Coast Guard funding. Looks like these pols are having a bad hare day!
