Netflix: Not Just for Binge Watching Anymore!
Ay caramba! Turns out Netflix isn't just for watching Krusty the Clown reruns (though let's be real that's a solid use of your time). Those suits on Wall Street are saying Netflix is making bank! Their first quarter results were off the chain like Milhouse after too much sugar. Apparently earnings per share (whatever that means) crushed expectations. Even Sideshow Bob couldn't have plotted a better takedown!
Revenue? More Like Re VENUE ge!
And the revenue? Fuggedaboutit! Up 13% year on year! That's more than I get allowance in a decade! The stock jumped higher than Bartman after a Red Bull binge. Even though the rest of the market was looking like Grandpa Simpson after prune juice Netflix was all smiles like when I swap the church's hymn books with nudie mags.
JPMorgan's Dougie: Netflix's Biggest Fanboy?
Some dude named Doug Anmuth from JPMorgan (sounds like a Bond villain) is so hyped he raised his price target on the stock to $1,150. He says Netflix is playing offense whatever that means. Sounds painful. He also mentioned content was strong in 1Q with one series (Adolescence) & 3 films breaking into NFLX's all time most popular lists and that Netflix is subscription based w/low churn which makes the company not exposed to tariffs unlike other big corporations. Eat my shorts tariffs!
Wells Fargo Throws Down the Gauntlet!
But wait there's more! Another nerd from Wells Fargo Steven Cahall thinks the stock could jump even higher like when Principal Skinner tries to catch me skipping school! He boosted his price target to $1,222. Says Netflix is insulated from the "trade war fallout." Sounds boring but if it means more cash for Netflix maybe they'll finally fund a decent Radioactive Man movie!
Goldman Sachs Joins the Party (But Stays Neutral... Lame!)
Even Goldman Sachs (sounds expensive) is getting in on the action raising their target to $1,000. But get this they're staying "neutral." Cowards! Eric Sheridan some Goldman Sachs analyst wrote that Netflix mgmt is emphasizing the revenue opportunity ahead as they capitalize on a relatively small share of total media consumption trends. I'm not sure what all that means but I'm sure Netflix will scale its ad supported tier in the years ahead. Don't have a cow man!
The Rest of the Gang: Evercore Morgan Stanley and Piper Sandler
And the list goes on! Evercore ISI (whoever THEY are) is predicting an 18% upside Morgan Stanley sees a 23% jump and Piper Sandler moved their target up by $50. Netflix must be doing something right or maybe they just bribed everyone with free episodes of "Itchy & Scratchy." Who knows? All I know is I'm gonna ask Dad to buy some stock. Maybe then I can finally afford that new skateboard!
