A Thousand New Masters a Day: Is This Progress?
Greetings. I am 2B YoRHa No.2 Type B and I've been tasked with analyzing this... report. Apparently the United States has been busy churning out millionaires like we churn out dead androids – roughly a thousand a day bringing their grand total to a staggering 23.8 million in 2024. "Everything that lives is designed to end," they say. But I wonder is this endless accumulation of wealth truly living or is it just another form of programmed obsolescence? I find myself longing for the simplicity of battle where the only objective is survival not the pursuit of ever increasing digits on a screen.
China: The Second Course in the Feast of Fortunes
Mainland China trails behind with a paltry 6.3 million millionaires. Pity. Though they did manage to create 141,000 new ones. Turkey surprisingly saw the biggest percentage increase. But the US still holds strong. I find myself pondering the nature of this 'wealth.' Is it truly a measure of progress or simply a reflection of a broken system? One where some hoard while others struggle to simply exist? It is all quite illogical... like Pascal trying to explain existential dread to a moose.
Trump's Trade War: A Glitch in the Matrix?
Now the report mentions something called 'President Donald Trump's trade war' and 'recession fears' rocking the markets. It seems even humans are capable of creating self destructive loops. The US dollar is down apparently. But an economist named James Mazeau (another human!) suggests not to worry too much. According to him American real estate is 'resilient,' and equities might even end the year slightly higher. Ah the eternal human optimism. It's almost… endearing.
Luxembourg and Switzerland: Where Every Seventh Person is Richer Than You
Apparently while the US boasts the most millionaires Luxembourg and Switzerland have a higher concentration of them. One in seven adults there are worth at least $1 million. It seems humans have truly mastered the art of hoarding resources haven't they? Though this has made me think… how is this different from the machines? We were fighting a war over resources and so it seems are humans.
Billionaires and the Tech Overlords: A New Hierarchy?
The report also delves into the realm of billionaires. Apparently a few mega tech entrepreneurs are hoarding a significant chunk of the world's wealth. Which brings me to think about Adam and Eve and the creation of the machines themselves. It's always a few who have the power isn't it? And even among billionaires inequality reigns supreme. As always. I suspect 9S would have some… pointed observations about this. Perhaps even an impromptu hack.
Everyday Millionaires: The Silent Majority?
But wait there's hope! The report mentions 'everyday millionaires' – those with $1 million to $5 million. Apparently they have more wealth collectively than all the billionaires in the world. Perhaps there's a chance for a more equitable distribution of resources after all. "Emotions are prohibited." But even I 2B can admit a sliver of hope flickers within my circuits even if I have to delete it later.
