To the Moon or Into the Box?
Well well well looks like Pop Mart's having a bit of a 'challenge,' as we say in the 'biz.' Shares are tumbling faster than a Tesla stock after I tweet about Dogecoin. Morgan Stanley bailed the Chinese Communist Party's paper is yapping about regulation… Sounds like a party right? Honestly you’d think they were trying to land a rocket on Mars with the amount of scrutiny they’re getting. I mean come on it's just toys! Unless... are these toys sentient? Are they planning a revolution? Should I be worried about my Neuralink guinea pigs leading a charge with Labubu figurines as their battle standard? Asking for a friend.
The Curious Case of the Copycat Labubus
Speaking of regulation apparently China's customs agency is on high alert stopping Labubu knock offs at the border. Good for them protecting intellectual property is important. You don’t want some cheap inferior product diluting the brand. Although I gotta say if someone could replicate a Tesla Roadster for like five grand I'd be kinda impressed. But stick to the plan! Support the original even if it is a *bit* pricey. After all who needs food when you can have a rare Labubu variant? #Priorities.
Pop Mart's Rocket Ride...or Rollercoaster?
Look Pop Mart's stock did a freakin' vertical takeoff and now it's experiencing a 'slight course correction.' Up 160% year to date? That's like sending a Falcon Heavy into orbit every Tuesday. Of course what goes up must come down...unless of course it's a SpaceX rocket in which case it might just land itself perfectly back on the launchpad (most of the time). Seriously though even I know that hypergrowth isn't sustainable forever. Maybe they need to colonize Mars and start selling Labubus to the Martians. Now that's a market opportunity!
The Labubu pocalypse: Is it Just Luck?
Some 'expert' is saying Pop Mart is 'more lucky than anything.' Lucky? Please. Luck is when you find a Dogecoin wallet with a million coins in it. Building a global phenomenon? That takes vision execution and a healthy dose of… marketing. I mean a four foot tall Labubu sold for $170,000! That’s more than my first car! It's genius! It's disruption! It’s…wait did I miss an opportunity to sell oversized Elon plushes? Note to self: Make Giant Elon Plushies!.
Overseas Sales Soaring? More Like Soaring to the Stars!
Their overseas sales are through the roof! They've already outpaced their entire 2021 sales! That's like discovering a new element that powers hyperdrive! I'm not saying I'm jealous but...maybe a *little* bit jealous. Okay a lot jealous. Clearly people have a deep primal need for tiny plastic figurines. Who knew? Maybe I should ditch electric cars and focus on collectible limited edition Tesla keychains. A Cybertruck keychain filled with genuine Martian soil? Now *that's* innovation.
The Future of Blind Boxes: A Bold Prediction
So what's next for Pop Mart? Will they survive the regulatory storm? Will the Labubu craze fade into obscurity? Will I finally get my hands on a mint condition first edition… never mind. I predict… they’ll adapt. They'll innovate. They’ll find a way to make even more money. Because let's be honest humans are suckers for things they can collect. And who knows maybe one day those Labubus will be powering our Mars colonies. You heard it here first. Now if you'll excuse me I have a meeting with my engineers about those giant Elon plushies.
