My Spidey Sense is Tingling... or is that just the GPS?

Alright web heads Spidey here your friendly neighborhood news reporter! So I'm swinging through the city dodging pigeons and rogue hot dog carts when I hear the news: Uber and some company called Wayve are launching driverless taxis in London! Driverless! Talk about taking a vacation right? I can't even get a decent cup of coffee without battling a supervillain and these guys are just letting robots take the wheel. I mean with great power comes great responsibility but I am not sure if that applies to the AI.

Level 4 Autonomy? More Like Level Awesome!

Apparently these aren't your grandma's self parking cars. We're talking 'Level 4' autonomy which means no safety driver! Zip zilch nada! Just you the open road and a cold unfeeling machine deciding if you make it to your destination in one piece. San Francisco's got Google's Waymo doing the robotaxi thing but London's about to get a taste of the future too. Wonder if they'll play 'Spidey Bells' on the radio? Probably not. They will probably play dubstep.

Robotaxi Wars: It's a Race Against Time!

Look out world! It seems like everyone is hopping on the bandwagon of robotaxis now! Andrew MacDonald from Uber says this partnership with Wayve is moving them closer to making autonomy safe and reliable. Safe? Reliable? Famous last words buddy! I've seen what happens when machines go rogue. Doc Ock anyone? Ultron? This could get messy and it's my job to keep a close watch on the developments.

Wayve's AI Driver: Smarter Than Your Average Web Slinger?

Alex Kendall the CEO of Wayve is super excited to put their 'AI Driver technology' on the streets of London. So some SoftBank backed startup thinks it can teach a car to navigate London traffic? That's like teaching a toddler to defuse a bomb! But hey maybe I'm wrong. Maybe these AI drivers will be better than half the cabbies I've seen in this city. Although most of them are great people! But you know sometimes I see some pretty crazy stuff!

Blame it on the Government...or Thank Them?

Apparently the U.K. government is all about this with an 'accelerated framework' for self driving pilots. They even passed a whole law about it! The Autonomous Vehicles Act ready to roll out by 2026! Talk about efficiency! The government are paving the way for robot cars. Now if only they could pave the potholes on Queens Boulevard with the same enthusiasm. I keep getting stuck there!

My Spidey Senses Say 'Proceed With Caution'!

So what's the takeaway true believers? Driverless cars are coming to London whether we like it or not. It's all fun and games until a robotaxi tries to cut me off mid swing. Just remember with great technology comes great responsibility... and probably a whole lot of traffic tickets. I guess I'll be seeing you all in the streets of London keeping a watchful eye on the future of transportation! Thwip!
