Mama Always Said...

Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get. And let me tell you this whole Santander buying TSB thing is like opening a box of chocolates and finding out half of 'em are filled with shrimp. Santander which is like a big ol' bank from Spain decided to buy TSB a bank in Britain for a whole lotta money – £2.65 billion which is more than I ever made shrimpin'. They said it's gonna be real good for 'em like Jenny and me but sometimes things ain't always what they seem.

Run Sabadell Run!

Now the reason this is happening is because there's another big ol' bank called BBVA trying to buy Sabadell who used to own TSB. It's like a game of tag but with billions of dollars. Sabadell didn't want BBVA to catch 'em so they sold TSB to Santander. It's like when Bubba told me to run from the Vietcong you gotta do what you gotta do to survive! And now the government in Spain is getting all up in their business telling them what to do like when Lieutenant Dan was telling me to check my equipment.

The UK: Santander's Happy Place

The folks at Santander are saying the UK is a really important place for them like shrimp was to Bubba. They say it's a good business safe and makes them money. Even though they had some problems last year they swear they ain't leaving. Like when I told Jenny I would always be there for her they're saying they'll always be there for Britain.

Peas and Carrots or Oil and Water?

This whole deal might make it harder for BBVA to buy Sabadell. It's like trying to mix oil and water just doesn't work! Some folks think Santander is trying to mess things up for BBVA but they say they're just looking out for themselves. Like when I was playing ping pong I was just trying to win not mess with anyone else's game.

Toughest Game in Town

The guy from Santander said banking in Spain is tougher than a drill sergeant. He said this ain't gonna make it easier probably the opposite. It's like running with all that equipment in Vietnam it's hard work but you gotta keep going. But I'm sure they'll figure it out they are bankers after all.

That's All I Have To Say About That

So that's the story. Santander's buying TSB Sabadell's trying to avoid BBVA and the Spanish government is sticking its nose in. It's all very complicated like trying to understand women. But like Mama always said "Stupid is as stupid does." And I sure hope these banks know what they're doing 'cause a whole lot of money is on the line. That's all I have to say about that.
