Europe's Gotta Europe: Not a Flamethrower But a Satellite?

Alright alright settle down. I see Europe's finally waking up and smelling the propellant. Leonardo Airbus and Thales are huddling together trying to cobble together a satellite alliance to quote 'provide a European option' to Starlink. Bless their hearts. It's like they saw my Cybertruck and decided to build a horse drawn carriage. But hey competition is good right? Even if it's like racing a snail with a Tesla. As I always say "I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary."

Deterrence and Security: More Important Than a Cheap Tank?

Apparently some Italian dude named Roberto Cingolani – probably related to spaghetti – thinks 'emergency times' call for flexible regulations. He wants to prioritize 'deterrence and security' over 'the best price for a tank.' I mean he's not wrong. A cheap tank is just a slow moving coffin. But a network of satellites? Now we're talking. Still I have serious doubts that a European alliance can compete effectively with us. Building rockets is rocket science if you know what I mean.

Trump Effect: Making Europe Realize They Can't Always Rely on Uncle Sam

The article says that with the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House Europe is beginning to realize that it cannot rely on the U.S. for defense. Well I am not a fan of Trump but on this point he is right! You know what I say "Some people don't like change but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster."

Italy Pulls the Plug on Starlink... For Now!

So Italy bless their hearts had a little 'oopsie' moment with Starlink. Apparently they suspended talks about a secure comms system because I had the audacity to have 'controversial comments on Ukraine.' First of all my comments were spot on! Second grow a spine Italy! Don't cut off your nose to spite your face. But don't worry they might come crawling back eventually. Everyone does. I mean have you seen our stock price? "When something is important enough you do it even if the odds are not in your favor."

No Monopoly! (Unless I Have It First)

Leonardo's CEO claims this alliance isn't about challenging Starlink but about providing a 'European option.' Oh and he throws in the classic line about monopolies being 'not good for anybody.' Hilarious! That's what *I* should be saying! Seriously though I'm not worried. We're light years ahead. But I will keep and eye on these people... Maybe they can supply the sauce to my pizza when I arrive on Mars.

Months Not Years! (But Probably Years)

They're saying 'months' to present a business plan. Months! That's cute. Building a real scalable and functional satellite network takes years not months. But hey good luck to them! I'm sure they'll need it. Now if you excuse me I have a rocket to launch and a planet to colonize. Remember "Failure is an option here. If things are not failing you are not innovating enough."

Musk's comments on Ukraine were definitely controversial. Italy had a right to pause talks.

Can they even compete with SpaceX's infrastructure? Doubtful.

Starlink has been crucial in Ukraine. Can't deny that.

Monopoly bad, competition good. Simple economics.
