Show Me the Money! (They Almost Did)
Alright folks Saul Goodman here your friendly neighborhood attorney and occasional financial analyst (don't ask). Amazon that big ol' online jungle just dropped its Q1 results. And lemme tell ya the numbers? They're mostly good! Earnings per share? $1.59 which beats the pants off the expected $1.36. Revenue? A cool $155.67 billion. Looks like someone's been selling a lot of…stuff. But hold your horses because even Jesse Pinkman knows there's always a 'but'.
Trouble in Paradise: The Tariff Man Cometh
Now here's where things get interesting and by 'interesting,' I mean 'potentially requires my legal services.' Turns out President Trump's tariffs are giving Amazon the heebie jeebies. They're expecting a bit of a dip in operating income for the next quarter and they're blaming it on among other things 'tariffs and trade policies.' This is like finding out Walter White suddenly has a new competitor – messy and potentially explosive!
AWS: Not Quite the Heisenberg Blue We Expected
Even Amazon Web Services the cloud division didn't quite hit the mark. $29.3 billion is nothing to sneeze at but it was a smidge below expectations. Looks like the cloud might have a few clouds of its own these days. Someone needs to tell Bezos to 'apply himself' a little harder on this project.
Advertising: A Bright Spot in a Cloudy Situation
But hey it's not all doom and gloom! Amazon's advertising division is booming up 19% year over year. Apparently even in a world of tariffs and uncertainty people still want to sell you… well more stuff. Maybe I should get into the advertising game myself. "Better Call Saul!" – it's catchy right?
Jassy's Jitters: A Gamble Worth Taking?
CEO Andy Jassy admitted the tariff situation is a bit of a crystal ball gazing contest. 'It's hard to tell what's going to happen with tariffs right now,' he said. Well join the club pal! But Jassy seems to think Amazon can weather the storm. He's betting that their low prices will give them an edge. Reminds me of Walt thinking he could outsmart Gus Fring. Risky business that.
So What Does It All Mean? (Besides More Business for Me)
Look Amazon's still a titan no question. But these tariffs are like a fly in the chili – annoying and potentially poisonous. If things get really ugly Bezos might need someone who knows the legal ropes someone who can… creatively navigate the system. And folks you know who to call. Just remember I'm not a magician I'm a lawyer. And with that I leave you with my best piece of advice “If you’re committed enough you can make any story work.”

Those tariffs are a real pain, even for us small sellers.
