Uh Oh Spaghetti O! (The Numbers Game)

Right then! So I was reading this news thingy and it seems that this 'Intel' company the one that makes all those computery chips is having a bit of a bother. They made a few more pennies than people thought (like finding a spare quid in your coat pocket!) but then they said they won't make as many pennies in the next few months! It's like when I try to make a sandwich – sometimes it's brilliant sometimes it ends up on the ceiling. And this 'Intel' is not happy not happy at all!

Teddy's Two Cents (or in this case Negative Eighty Million Pennies!)

Now here's the truly glum part. They lost £800 million! Can you imagine how many tins of beans that is? Even Teddy was shocked and he doesn’t shock very often. Apparently it’s because things cost more and there were some I think they called it ‘write downs’. Sounds painful like when you accidentally sit on your pudding!

Goodbye Old Chap! (The CEO Shuffle)

The article says the head honcho this fella called Pat stepped down in December. Gone! Replaced by a new bloke named Lip Bu Tan. It’s like when I tried to replace the string on Teddy – ended up with a rubber band and a stapler. Poor Teddy! Anyway apparently the old boss wasn't very good at making the company compete with the others and was trying to sell some chip making things but it wasn't going very well. What a palaver!

Cutting Corners (and Possibly Jobs!)

To try and sort this mess out they are going to cut some money. Like when I try to cut my own hair. Ouch! They want to spend less on running the company and building new things. And apparently there might be fewer jobs. Sad isn’t it? Like when you finish a lovely ice cream and it’s all gone.

AI Yi Yi! (The Artificial Intelligence Problem)

One of the big problems is that this 'Intel' company doesn't have a good chip for making those clever 'Artificial Intelligence' things. A different company called Nvidia is apparently the king of the castle. Like when you are trying to make a cake but someone else has all the eggs! Mr. Tan is trying to sort it out though he hired a new chap for AI. Good luck to him I say!

Bean's Final Thought (and a Biscuit)

So to sum it all up this 'Intel' company is in a bit of a pickle. Losing money changing bosses cutting costs and struggling with those AI whatsits. But the new boss says he’s got a plan! I hope it's a good one. Now where did I put that biscuit? Ah there it is! *munch munch* Right off to paint Teddy now!
