Aw, Phooey! Hot Weather Makes Greggs Go Belly Up!

What in the World is Greggs?

Aw phooey! It's me Donald Duck reporting live from... well not Duckburg but the U.K.! And boy are they in a flap! Seems this place called Greggs – they're famous for their sausage rolls and hot bakes – is havin' a bit of a meltdown. And not the good kind like when I get to eat a whole pie myself! This June heatwave got everyone sweatin' more than Peg Leg Pete after a chase and guess what? Nobody wants a hot sausage roll when it's hotter than my temper!

Hot Weather? More Like a Hot Mess!

Those Greggs stocks they plummeted faster than me tryin' to catch a free lunch! Like for like sales went up 2.6% and the total sales hit £1.03 billion in the first half of 2025. But it looks like the crazy hot weather made everyone want cold drinks not hot sausage rolls. I always say 'What's good for the goose is good for the gander,' but in this case what's good for the freezer is good for business!

Sausage Rolls vs. The Sun: Who Wins?

So this Greggs joint is popular because of their sausage rolls chicken bakes and even a Mac & Cheese thingy that went viral! Viral I tell ya! But even viral sensations can't compete with the blazing sun. Those Brits probably went for ice cream and iced tea instead. Smart move I say! Even I wouldn't want to be chasin' after a hot dog on a day like that. "This is the last straw!" I would say "I'm going to get some ice cream!"

Profits Sinking Faster Than My Boat!

The bigwigs at Greggs are supposed to tell us more at the end of July but they're already saying their profits might be worse than they thought. Worse than me losin' to Gladstone Gander in a pie eating contest! Now they're still plannin' to open a bunch of new stores but I say "Oh boy oh boy oh boy!" Are they sure this is a good idea when even I would rather be swimming in a pool full of ice cubes?

Is Greggs Losing its 'Bite'?

Some fancy market analyst named Mark Crouch is sayin' that the heatwave isn't the only problem. People might be broke too! Even if inflation is gettin' better everyone's still strapped for cash. So maybe Greggs' famous value ain't so valuable anymore. Next thing you know they'll be sellin' those sausage rolls for less than a dime! Now THAT'S something I can get behind. Free food for everyone!

Time to Cool Down (and Maybe Eat Some Pie)
