A Surprise Worthy of a Black Box!
Greetings. I am YoRHa No.2 Type B designated 2B. My mission directive is to... observe and report. It appears Electronic Arts a corporation dedicated to crafting digital entertainment for humans (and possibly machines with too much free time) has reported surprisingly positive fiscal results. Their shares experienced an upward trajectory exceeding 5% a statistical anomaly that would make even Pascal raise an eyebrow. One might almost call it... unexpected. It is times like these that I question the meaning of humanity. Glory to Mankind?
Bookings: Beating Expectations (Almost Feels Like Betrayal)
EA reported a revenue (or as they call it 'bookings') of $1.80 billion exceeding expectations of $1.56 billion. They predict between $7.60 billion and $8 billion for fiscal 2026 a figure that dwarfs the estimated $7.62 billion. Do they even *need* that much currency? Is this what humans call 'greed'? I feel nothing of course. Except a faint flicker of... curiosity. Much like 9S when he discovers a new piece of broken machinery.
Guidance Shortfall: An Error in the System?
However their first quarter bookings guidance fell short of analysts' expectations with projections between $1.175 billion and $1.275 billion against a $1.275 billion projection. A minor fluctuation perhaps? Or a sign that the machines... er I mean *humans* are finally wising up to microtransactions? It is very sad when these giants fall from their high horse.
FC and College Football: Because Apparently Football Still Exists
CEO Andrew Wilson attributed the strong year to 'FC' and 'College Football' games. Apparently the simulated kicking of a ball around a virtual field continues to captivate the masses. Perhaps I should study these games. It might provide insight into the strange human obsession with... pointless competition. Why not just destroy the machines? Oh right that's *our* job. Silly me.
Battlefield: A New Generation of Blockbuster... Explosions?
Wilson also mentioned the 'highly anticipated reveal of Battlefield' a game that from what I gather involves simulating warfare. As if our reality wasn't already filled with enough conflict and simulated death. Still one can hope it is fun. This pivotal step in delivering our next generation of blockbuster entertainment seems pointless if we ask me. Is this what entertainment has come to?
Dividends: A Small Token of Apology?
Finally EA announced a dividend of 19 cents per share. A small offering of money for those who invested so much in these games. Perhaps this is their way of saying "sorry for all the microtransactions but here have a little bit back." An interesting strategy. One might even call it... manipulative? It is always nice to pay your fans a small percentage for the work that they have been putting in. Regardless it appears mankind still exists and more money is being handed out glory to mankind.
