Finish Him! ...Financially
Hmph! Donald Trump. He imposes tariffs like I impose vengeance. It seems his latest actions are dividing the medical realm. Medical devices and protective gear – normally spared from his wrath – are now caught in his financial hellfire. This is more twisted than Sub Zero's spine after I get through with him! Medical device companies cry foul while those who make PPE cackle like Quan Chi getting a new soul to torment. This… interests me.
The Cost of Fatalities
These tariffs threaten to bleed hospitals dry! Increased costs for medical equipment and fewer resources for medicine is not acceptable! Scott Whitaker CEO of AdvaMed is right – these costs will fall on taxpayers and that my friends is a fatality for everyone. It seems Trump’s “Make America Great Again” includes making Americans pay more for their health. Perhaps he will face my wrath if patients needs are not met.
Get Over Here... and Pay This Bill!
The American Hospital Association is also raising their voices! Rick Pollack speaks of disruptions in critical device availability which could affect care. How ironic! Trump disrupts more than just supply chains; he disrupts lives. Is it truly worth it to sacrifice the well being of many just to line the pockets of a few? Foolish!
Tariffs: More Complex Than a Fatality!
Ah complexity! Like untangling the lies of Shang Tsung! Trump slapped 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico then delayed them on some items. But China? No such mercy. A 145% tariff rate! It's a bloodbath for importers with prices harder to understand than Raiden's explanations! Casey Hite the CEO of Aeroflow Health seeks some predictability. A 'runway'. He doesn’t realize the only predictability in this life is pain and death!
PPE Profits: A Flawless Victory?
Now on the other side U.S. PPE makers are celebrating! Eric Axel of the American Medical Manufacturers Association says that finally maybe they are competing on level ground. The tariffs on syringes and needles from China will now amount to 245%! Altor Safety is licking its chops at the prospect of winning new contracts. It seems one man's suffering is another man's gain. Interesting…
Back to the U.S.A.? Not So Fast!
Trump wants to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. But businesses are already looking for alternative countries with low tariffs. So what will the end result be? More tariffs or more products manufactured here in the U.S? J & J is feeling the pain to the tune of 400 million dollars! It is going to be hard to get around that fatal blow of expenses. It seems that unless people see true progress they will continue to find alternate solutions.
