The Valkyrie's Departure

By Odin's beard! It seems the high seas of CBS News have claimed another victim. Wendy McMahon their Chief Executive has chosen to sail to Valhalla… or well resign. Word is she and Shari Redstone the big cheese at Paramount Global were clashing like shields in a fierce battle. 'Fear is the path to the dark side,' some say. But in this case it seems disagreement was the real foe.

Pressure from the Gods

The whispers in the longhouse say the Paramount Global bigwigs were breathing down McMahon's neck demanding to know every detail of '60 Minutes' before it even hit the airwaves. It's like asking a Viking how many axes he owns – the answer is always 'more'! But seriously scrutinizing journalism like that? Even I Ragnar Lothbrok believe in a bit of freedom... well mostly for myself of course. But still 'Sometimes it is better to feign ignorance than to seek out knowledge too soon.'

The '60 Minutes' Siege

Bill Owens the executive producer of '60 Minutes,' also jumped ship. He claimed Paramount Global was poking their noses where they didn't belong threatening his precious journalistic independence. Scott Pelley one of their correspondents even griped about it on TV! Seems everyone's feeling the heat. 'Power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves to pick it up.' Perhaps Ms. Redstone was picking up too much?

Redstone's Grievances

Sources (reliable as Floki's madness perhaps) say Redstone wasn't too pleased with CBS's coverage of the Israeli Palestinian squabble. And she apparently had a bone to pick about a potential settlement with the Trump folks regarding an interview with Kamala Harris. Accusations of unfairness and imbalance are being thrown around like axes at a wedding. 'Never follow someone else's path unless you are in the woods and you are lost.'

The Skydance Saga

Paramount Global is trying to hook up with Skydance Media run by a bloke named David Ellison. This deal would line Redstone's pockets with a cool $1.5 billion. But the Feds are dragging their feet thanks to this '60 Minutes' interview and some corporate diversity hullabaloo. 'Everything changes.' Indeed from boardroom battles to government meddling change is the only constant… besides my thirst for adventure of course.

DEI Debacle!

And let's not forget about the DEI drama! Apparently CBS News anchor Tony Dokoupil got a slap on the wrist for being a bit too enthusiastic in an interview. Redstone defended him saying CBS News made a 'bad mistake.' It's all one big messy saga worthy of the sagas of old. 'Life is all about risks. You take some and you lose some.' But sometimes losing is just the beginning of a new raid... or in this case a new job for Ms. McMahon.

Wonder what Floki thinks of all this 'DEI' nonsense?
