Oh Dear Another Fine Mess!

Right then good morning everyone! I've been reading about Mr. Trump's 'big beautiful bill' for health care. Sounds lovely doesn't it? Like a giant cake! But... oh dear it seems a bit more like a soggy biscuit. Apparently it’s going to change health care quite a bit and people might lose their health insurance. Like when Teddy gets lost at the seaside! Millions of them the news says!

Medicaid Mayhem!

This bill you see wants to cut a massive pile of money from something called Medicaid. It's like cutting the string on my favorite kite! Medicaid helps people who don't have much money and those with disabilities. The report says over 1 trillion of those cuts would come from Medicaid. Think of the beans I could buy with that! Apparently that’s a very big number. So if they cut the money it might be a bit tricky for some people to get the medicine they need. Like when I tried to give myself a shot and ended up covered in green goo!

Hospital Hiccups!

And that's not all! These cuts could hurt the hospitals especially the ones in the countryside. You know where the sheep live! They rely on this money to keep going. Without it they might close down like when my Mini gets stuck in a muddy field. The result is people might need to travel really far to get to a hospital. And you know how much I hate driving! Especially when I have to use the roof rack chair to get to the shopping centre!

Worky Worky No Play?

There's also something about having to work to keep your insurance. Apparently if you don't work enough you lose your coverage. Unless of course you have a VERY good excuse like I did when I got stuck in a bucket while trying to paint my room! But it's going to affect a lot of people. I wonder if Teddy would have to get a job? Perhaps he could be a security guard!

Pharma Funnies!

There is something else that I have been looking at. The law would exempt more medicines from the Inflation Reduction Act's Medicare drug price negotiations. Sounds very complicated. It's like the time I tried to install a TV aerial... Disaster! But in a nutshell it means that drug companies get to keep a little more profit on certain rare disease medicines. But maybe some people won't be able to afford the medicine they need which is not funny at all. Not even for a rubber chicken!

So there you have it. Mr. Trump's 'big beautiful bill'. Looks like a bit of a muddle to me. Lots of people might lose their health insurance hospitals might close and everyone might need to work harder! It's all a bit like trying to put your trousers on while running a marathon. Oh dear!
