Waah! Tariffs Strike Back!
Hello everybody! It's Jackie Chan here! You know me always jumping kicking and trying to fix things just like Ford is trying to do with these new tariffs! Apparently my friend Donald Trump’s tariffs are giving Ford a bit of a headache – a $2.5 billion headache to be exact! Ouch! That’s like getting hit by a… well a really big car! They're expecting a $2.5 billion impact this year! It's like trying to catch a fly with chopsticks – tricky business! But Ford they're not backing down. They're like me in a fight scene – taking a beating but always finding a way to bounce back!
Remediation Rumble: Ford's Fightback!
Ford says they will offset $1 billion of those costs through 'remediation actions.' What does that even mean? It sounds like some fancy kung fu move! But seriously they are also looking at volume and pricing. So the total impact is 1.5 billion in 2025. Good for Ford good for Ford!! Like I always say 'Sometimes it takes a little madness to show you who you really are!' And Ford is showing us they are fighters!
Supply Chain Snafu: A Traffic Jam on the Highway!
They're worried about supply chains and retaliatory tariffs. Imagine trying to deliver a thousand cars through rush hour traffic in Hong Kong! That’s the kind of chaos we're talking about! They cited "near term risks especially the potential for industrywide supply chain disruption impacting production"! Ay yah! So just be patient ok? These things take time like perfecting a good roundhouse kick!
GM's Got Game Too! (But Ford's Doing Better?)
General Motors is also feeling the pinch but apparently Ford is importing fewer vehicles so they're not getting hit as hard. Ha! Seems like Ford learned a lesson from my movies – sometimes less is more! Less importing less trouble! "GM which last week lowered its 2025 guidance said it expected to offset at least 30% of those expenses." I guess everyone is feeling the heat!
Ford+'s Turnaround Plan: More Than Just a Pretty Face!
Ford CFO Sherry House says their 'Ford+' plan is working. It is transforming into a higher growth higher margin more capital efficient and more durable business. Alright! Just like my movies Ford is going for action comedy and a happy ending. Maybe they need to add some more Jackie Chan stunts! I am always here to help!
The Bottom Line: Numbers and Noodles!
The numbers are down overall (revenues EBIT results net income). The "Pro" commercial business is down a lot! Ouch! But the electric vehicle business is narrowing its losses. Good! They are doing something right! So it’s a mixed bag like a fortune cookie. Sometimes you get good news sometimes you get… well just a fortune cookie! But remember 'Don't let anyone tell you that you are not strong enough.' Keep fighting Ford!
