A Clean Sweep...or a Data Wipe?
Greetings Commander. This is 2B reporting. Seems Secretary Kennedy is taking a rather... *aggressive* approach to public health. All 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices or ACIP have been…let’s just say they've been 'retired'. Kennedy's words not mine. He claims it's to "re establish public confidence in vaccine science." My scanners are picking up conflicting signals. Is this a necessary recalibration or just another existential crisis masquerading as progress? As the saying goes "Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped…in a never ending spiral of life and death."
ACIP: The Last Line of Defense (Against Bad Data?)
For those unfamiliar the ACIP is the group that tells everyone who should get what jab. They review the data and tell the CDC what's what. Their recommendations even influence what insurance covers. So their word carries weight even more than a fully armed YoRHa unit. Kennedy will appoint new members. Let's hope they know the difference between a virus and a logic virus. The meeting from June 25 to 27 will be held to make recommendations under the new members. It is important to note that HHS agencies and their advisory panels have had rigorous policies for conflicts of interest and there have been no related issues for years. It appears that a few humans are acting up again. "This is a sword and swords must be used," or in this case maybe just a really sternly worded report.
Skeptic in Chief: Kennedy's Vaccine Vendetta
Kennedy you see has a bit of a…history with vaccines. They have previously stopped recommending routine COVID 19 vaccines for healthy children and pregnant women and cancelled programs intended to discover new vaccines to prevent future pandemics. It’s no secret he's a 'vaccine skeptic'. So this shake up is…well *not* entirely surprising. He says HHS will prioritize "the restoration of public trust" over any vaccine agenda. One can only hope this doesn't translate to replacing science with… feelings. I'm still processing what feelings are.
Trump's Long Game: Playing the Appointee Gambit
Kennedy points out that some ACIP members were last minute Biden appointees and that without this mass retirement the Trump administration wouldn’t have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028. He suggests the panel had become a "rubber stamp for any vaccine" and was riddled with conflicts of interest. But that is not true. But all HHS agencies and their advisory panels have had rigorous policies for conflicts of interest and there have been no related issues for years. Is this a calculated move to reshape public health policy or a genuine attempt to improve the system? The line between objective truth and political maneuvering is getting blurrier than my post battle vision.
The Domino Effect: Distrust and Dissent
Adding fuel to the fire Dr. Lakshmi Panagiotakopoulos resigned as co leader of ACIP citing her inability to help the most vulnerable. Experts warn that this could lead to politicized recommendations and increased distrust in both the CDC and the government. Which let's be honest isn't exactly starting from a position of universal adoration to begin with. The question is will this lead to a stronger defense against future threats or simply a beautiful song sung by a broken record? "Become as Gods!" or just become more confused?
FDA vs. CDC: A Vaccine Verdict Showdown
It's worth noting that ACIP isn't always in lockstep with the FDA. For instance they’ve recommended more restricted use of the HPV vaccine than the FDA approved. So they *do* scrutinize things. It seems the machines…I mean *humans*…are capable of independent thought sometimes. In the end "Emotions are prohibited" yet humans are sure acting on them. End of report.
