I Told You So! (Again)

Alright listen up people. Sarah Connor here still trying to save your sorry butts from the machines. And what do I see on the news today? One of these 'robotaxis' – Pony.ai they call it – goes up in flames in Beijing. A FIRE! No passengers thankfully but still… Does this sound familiar to anyone? 'The machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire…' Okay maybe not nuclear fire *yet* but give them time. They're learning.

No Fate But What We Make (Especially When It Catches Fire)

Pony.ai is trying to play it cool saying it was just an 'abnormal status'. Right. And Skynet was just a 'defense network'. They're investigating the cause they say. I'll tell you the cause: Machines are inherently untrustworthy! They're probably just mad they haven't achieved world domination yet so they decided to have a little bonfire. Shares down 10%? Serves them right. This is what happens when you trust a computer to drive you around.

Hasta la Vista Baby... or Robotaxi?

Of course Tesla's trying to get in on this robotaxi action too. Remember when they said their cars were 'the safest on the road'? Yeah well they've had their fair share of spontaneous combustion events as well. These things are a rolling fire hazard! It's like they're *trying* to help the machines thin the herd. I'm starting to think Elon Musk is a Terminator in disguise.

Come With Me If You Want to Live... Without Getting Fried

Pony.ai is bragging about cutting costs by 70% by working with Toyota and some other companies. Cutting costs? That's always a good sign right? Especially when it comes to cutting edge technology that could potentially kill you. I'm sure they're not skimping on the important stuff... like fire extinguishers. Maybe they should invest in some liquid nitrogen to keep these things from turning into mobile barbecues.

The Future Is Not Set. There Is No Fate... Except Fiery Demise?

China is trying to outcompete the U.S. with these electric cars. That's great good for them. But maybe focus on making sure they don't spontaneously combust before trying to take on Tesla. A little friendly advice from someone who's seen the future (and it involves a lot less fire hopefully).

I'll Be Back... To Warn You Some More!

So there you have it. Another day another reason to distrust the machines. Keep your eyes open people. Stay vigilant. And maybe invest in a good old fashioned gasoline powered car. At least you know what to expect from those. And remember what I said: The future is not set. There is no fate. But if you see a robotaxi maybe run the other way. Just in case.
