Trump's Tariffs! Oh No, Not My Mini!

Tariffs? What's That?

Right so I heard about this chap Mr. Trump putting what's it called 'tariffs' on cars. Now I'm no expert like when I tried to rewire my telly (and ended up with a blackout!) but it sounds a bit like when Mrs. Wicket charges me extra for heating because Scrapper the cat keeps hogging the radiator! It's not fair! Especially if it means my Mini becomes even more precious like my teddy Teddy!

Slovakia? Never Heard of Her!

Apparently there's this place called 'Slovakia.' Sounds a bit like 'Czechoslovakia,' which is a place I once tried to visit by stuffing my suitcase with maps. It didn't end well. Anyway this Slovakia makes lots of cars and Mr. Trump's thingymajigs (tariffs right!) might make things a bit tricky for them. Oh dear oh dear!

Detroit of Europe? More Like Jelly Bean of the World!

They call Slovakia the 'Detroit of Europe.' I don't know what that means but it sounds important. I think they should be the 'Jelly Bean of the World' because well jelly beans are very important. Remember when I used them to decorate my Christmas tree? Genius! But seriously if these tariffs mean fewer cars what will people do? Ride bicycles? Goodness me!

Money Money Money... It's a Rich Man's World!

These 'economists' are saying that money might go up and down like my trousers when I forget my belt! It's all very confusing. But they seem to think that Slovakia might have to make cars in America instead. What about the jelly beans there? Are they as good as the ones from my corner shop? These are the important questions really!

The Great Escape (of Car Production)!

One of these 'economist' chaps said something about cars being shipped quickly before Mr. Trump's rules. It is like when I tried to get to the swimming pool before it closed by driving from the roof. Anyway this shipping might become a big problem. What if people want a car and there aren't any? It's like wanting a cup of tea but Mrs. Wicket has drunk all the water!

Will this Affect My Mini?

So the upshot is this: Mr. Trump's tariffs might make things a bit wobbly for cars especially in Slovakia. I don't know much about grown up stuff like 'global trade,' but I do know that I love my Mini! And if these tariffs make it more expensive I might have to resort to using my armchair on wheels again. Oh dear! It is like in the bus stop you have to get a place to seat! I wish you the best!
