Houston We Have a Problem (Again)!
Alright listen up. This is Ripley last survivor of the Nostromo. Or so I thought. Turns out there's always another monster another Weyland Yutani brewing somewhere. Only this time it's wearing a 'SpaceX' t shirt and building rockets in Texas. I just read about this Elon Musk fella getting himself a whole town Starbase down on the Gulf Coast. Seems he's put his own people in charge. And when I say 'his people' I mean SpaceX employees. What could possibly go wrong? It's like watching the Company all over again. You just know it's gonna end with someone saying 'Let's bring one back alive!' before all hell breaks loose.
Type C for Catastrophe?
They're calling it a 'Type C city' which in Texas means it's a town that used to be unincorporated with a few thousand people. 212 votes in favor 6 against? Sounds like a rigged election to me. Though to be fair on LV 426 we didn't even get a vote. Just Xenomorphs and corporate greed. Makes you wonder if these folks in Starbase even know what they've signed up for. A company town run by rocket scientists? I've seen enough science fiction to know how that ends. Spoiler alert: it's never good for the little guy.
Meet the New Boss Same as the Old Boss
So we've got Bobby Peden the VP of SpaceX test and launch operations as the mayor. Figures. And two commissioners Jenna Petrzelka (formerly SpaceX now a 'philanthropist' riiiight) and Jordan Buss from environmental health and safety. Notice anything funny there? Yeah Petrzelka is married to a Starship VP. It's all in the family with these guys. Guess who’s guarding the hen house? I mean it’s a bold move Cotton let's see if it pays off for 'em!
Kaboom! and Consequences
Remember that Starship that blew up in mid air? Turns out it also set fire to a part of Boca Chica State Park. And guess what? SpaceX got fined for polluting the water. Shocker. These guys are so busy looking at the stars they can’t see the mess they’re making right under their noses. It's like Bishop trying to convince me the Xenomorph was 'harmless'. I don’t buy it. And neither should anyone else.
Lawsuits and Lost Causes?
Environmental groups and indigenous folks are suing SpaceX. They say the company is messing with the local habitat and endangered species because of all the rockets noise and explosions. Imagine that! The same old story ain't it? Profit over people profit over the planet. You know I have met more corporate sociopaths in my life than I care to count especially at Weyland Yutani. If they want to build a town fine. But they better clean up their act or someone's gonna find themselves on the wrong end of a flamethrower. Metaphorically speaking... for now.
Building the Future or Repeating the Past?
StarbaseTX posted on X (whatever that is) about 'building the best community possible'. Right. I've heard that song and dance before. Building the future of humanity's place in space? More like building another colonial outpost ripe for disaster. 'If we can't protect ourselves we can't protect anyone.' Someone needs to remind these folks that space isn’t just about rockets and Mars. It's about responsibility. And until they learn that they're just playing with fire. And I for one am tired of cleaning up other people's messes. Especially when they involve giant bugs... or exploding rockets.
skamatha
Didn't they learn anything from company towns in the past?

This sounds like the start of a sci-fi movie... not in a good way.
