By Order of the SEC!
Right so here's the lay of the land. Washington's got its peepers on these Chinese firms listed over in America. Seems they're not too keen on sharing their books are they? The Yanks are rattling their sabers threatening to pull the rug out from under 'em. Now I've seen harder faces on boiled sweets but even I know that where there's smoke there's bloody fire. As my Aunt Pol said 'Sometimes Tommy the devil you know is better than the one you don't,' and Wall Street doesn't like surprises.
The $800 Billion Question
Goldman Sachs those fancy bankers they're flapping their gums about an $800 billion exodus if the Yanks get their way. That's a tidy sum even for me. And the Chinese aren't exactly thrilled either; they might start flogging their U.S. assets stocks and bonds the whole kit and caboodle. Seems everyone's a bit jumpy. Remember 'everyone's a whore Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves.' It is the same here everyone wants to make a sale.
KraneShares Bluffing?
These KraneShares lot running a $5.9 billion ETF are trying to play it cool. 'Low probability,' they say. Rubbish. They've already started shuffling their assets to Hong Kong. Smart move hedging their bets. But remember 'Lies travel faster than the truth.' The market sees the writing on the wall.
Trump's America First...Again
Trump's got his mitts in this of course. His 'America First' nonsense means more scrutiny more red tape. Winston Ma sounds like a dodgy geezer says delisting could come faster than a bloody greyhound. The SEC's watching the PCAOB's watching everyone's watching. I am watching all of them.
The House Demands Blood!
The House Select Committee a right bunch of busybodies are telling JPMorgan and Bank of America to stay out of a Chinese battery company's IPO. They're sniffing around university endowments too seeing who's been lining their pockets with Chinese gold. This Andrew King bloke is calling for blood. 'Delisting is overdue,' he says. Someone pass me the whiskey; this is getting interesting.
The Calm Before the Storm?
Despite all the noise the White House is hinting at a ceasefire. Treasury Secretary Bessent that slippery eel is saying the trade war might cool off. Meanwhile Nvidia's boss Jensen Huang is off gallivanting in China. The markets are taking a breather but don't be fooled. Underneath the surface 'there's a war coming.' Best be ready eh?
