Not My Problem Says the Man
Okay listen up. I've seen the future and it's not powered by solar panels and rainbows. These energy CEOs like Lorenzo Simonelli from Baker Hughes they're all smiles and 'wait and see' approaches. He says trying to predict oil prices is a fool's game? Honey *predicting the future* is a fool's game but that never stopped me. He’s probably got a T 1000 on retainer to handle his 'projects'. I'd bet my shotgun he knows more than he's letting on. Remember what Reese said? 'It's out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear! And it absolutely will not stop ever. Until you are dead!' That's oil folks. That's the damn energy market.
Straitjacket of Hormuz
Then you've got Meg O'Neill from Woodside Energy all worried about the Strait of Hormuz. This is the choke point where 20% of the world's oil flows through. If that gets shut down it's Mad Max time people. She's right to be concerned. She knows if that strait closes we're all gonna be fighting over gasoline like it's the last can of SPAM in a nuclear fallout shelter. But does she offer solutions? No. Just more 'monitoring'. I swear if 'monitoring' was a weapon Skynet would be toast already. Seriously "The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves." Get to work lady.
History Repeats Itself (And It's Always Messy)
O'Neill spouts off about oil crises dating back to World War II. Newsflash lady: *Every* crisis is an oil crisis waiting to happen! It's always geopolitics and pipelines and power grabs. Skynet wasn't built on hopes and dreams it was built on *resources*. The fight for energy is the fight for survival. It never ends does it? It's like chasing a Terminator through a shopping mall only instead of lasers it's spreadsheets and quarterly earnings reports.
No Bets Allowed
Neither of these high roller CEO's is willing to bet on the price of oil in five years sheesh. But I will! I will bet that they know *exactly* what's going to happen and they just don't want to tell us. Because if we knew we might actually do something about it. Like I don't know build a time machine and prevent the oil crisis in the first place? I’m going to make sure that Skynet I mean these guys never gain control. "I’ll be back."
The Devil's in the Details (and the Strait of Hormuz)
The Joint Maritime Information Center says there's 'no confirmed information' about a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Right. And Cyberdyne Systems swore they were just building medical equipment. Wake up sheeple! They're not going to announce the apocalypse with a press release. It'll be a slow burn a little tension here a little price hike there until we're all living in a post apocalyptic wasteland powered by hamsters on tiny treadmills.
This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things (Like a Stable Future)
So what's the takeaway? The world is run by oil oil is controlled by geopolitics and geopolitics is a dumpster fire. These CEOs are just watching the flames get higher making sure their bunkers are stocked with caviar while the rest of us are scavenging for scraps. They can all deny until they are blue in the face but I know the truth. The machines are already here and they run on greed and oil. It's up to us to stop them. "No fate. But what we make."
