Rumble in the Jungle... of Concrete!
Right then! What a kerfuffle! Today started like any other. A bit of toast a spot of tea (with a funny face drawn in the milk naturally!) and off I went for a stroll with Teddy. Suddenly the ground started doing a little jig! Not the fun kind mind you. More like the kind where everything wobbles and you nearly spill your cuppa. Turns out that pesky earthquake in Myanmar decided to give Bangkok a good shake! A whole skyscraper gone! Like a house of cards after I've had a go at building it!
Run for Your Life (and Your Teddy Bear)!
People were running about like headless chickens! Honestly it was worse than trying to find a parking space on a Saturday. I grabbed Teddy tight tucked him under my arm (he didn't seem too pleased) and legged it faster than you can say 'Mr. Bean's Holiday'! Apparently some poor souls were stuck in a building that decided to have a lie down. Ten people gone to meet their maker. It's a right shame it is.
Traffic Chaos! Like Every Other Day!
Oh the traffic! As if Bangkok wasn't bad enough already! Imagine trying to get to the shops before they close but EVERYONE is trying to do the same. The roads were jammed tighter than my suitcase when I pack for holiday. They closed the roads the shopping centres and the underground too. It was like a scene from one of my films but without the ice cream.
Engineers and Wobbly Buildings!
Now they've got these clever chaps in hard hats poking around buildings seeing if they're going to fall over. They said that it's okay to go back to buildings that aren't too damaged. But how does one know if the damage is 'too much'? Should've asked me the best builder in all of town. I'm still waiting for the Queen to give me my reward after all.
Airports and Noodles!
Good news though! The airport is still open! So you can all still fly in and out. And the hospitals are still working so if you want to slip and fall from my hilarious antics in the future they are ready to take care of you. Right so I'm off to find some noodles. All this excitement has made me peckish! Just hope they haven't all been shaken off the shelves.
Financial Fiddlesticks!
Something about the banks and the economy doing the funky chicken but I didn't understand a word of it. Something something Thailand is stable! That's right folks! Nothing can bring down this country! (unless there's another earthquake). The government said they'd lend money to people and businesses to fix things up. Though I'm not sure I'd trust myself with money! Remember when I tried to pay for that meal? Disaster!
