A New Challenger Approaches!
Greetings citizens of Hyrule! Princess Zelda here reporting live from… well not Hyrule. Apparently there's a place called Copenhagen and it's the epicenter of some truly earth shattering news. Roche a pharmaceutical giant (not quite as menacing as Ganon but still!) is throwing its hat into the ring in the ever expanding arena of obesity drugs. They've struck a deal with Zealand Pharma for a whopping $5.3 billion to develop a 'next generation' weight loss candidate. Sounds like a quest fit for a hero wouldn't you say? They're looking to take on the titans Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly who if you ask me sound like villains straight out of a Legend of Zelda game. Only time will tell if their new drug can truly defeat them leaving consumers with the 'strength to carry on'.
The Secret Weapon: Petrelintide!
Their secret weapon? A mysterious substance called 'petrelintide,' an amylin analog that mimics a hormone to make you feel full. Unlike those other drugs that mess with your gut this one works with your pancreas. It's like the difference between using a Deku Nut (quick and messy) and a well aimed Light Arrow (precise and effective). Early data suggests it's as good as the competition in terms of weight loss but it might be easier on the body and preserve precious lean muscle. After all who wants to defeat Ganon if they can't even lift the Master Sword?
A Deal Sealed with…Science!
Negotiations were apparently intense with multiple players vying for the prize. David Kendall from Zealand Pharma said it was a 'very competitive process.' Manu Chakravarthy of Roche added 'These things are never done until the pen hits the paper.' It sounds like a high stakes game of Cucco herding to me! The deal involves Roche and Zealand co developing and co commercializing petrelintide both as a standalone treatment and in combination with Roche's own 'incretin asset' CT 388. It's like teaming up Link and Zelda – a force to be reckoned with! Zealand gets a cool $1.65 billion upfront with the potential for a total of $5.3 billion in milestone payments. Talk about hitting the jackpot!
A True Partnership or Just a Fairy's Promise?
Both Roche and Zealand are adamant that this isn't just a one sided victory. 'It's a true partnership,' Chakravarthy insists. 'When you have a true collaboration and equal skin in the game that's where the magic happens.' I sure hope so! We wouldn't want another Sheik situation where one party is secretly pulling all the strings.
Culture: The Invisible Potion!
Apparently the key to this alliance was a strong 'scientific and cultural fit.' They had 'eye to eye conversation about the science,' according to Chakravarthy. Christina Sonnenborg Bredal from Zealand Pharma agreed saying 'Roche was the favorite the entire way through from a culture perspective.' It's good to know that even in the cutthroat world of pharmaceuticals a bit of Hyrulean harmony can go a long way! Maybe they'll all gather around the campfire and sing the Song of Healing.
The Race to Market: Faster Than Epona!
The race is on to get this drug to market! Zealand is already running a Phase 2b trial with results expected in 2026. They hope to launch petrelintide around 2030 which is a bit behind the competition. But with Roche's backing they're hoping to speed things up. 'Are we doing everything we can to accelerate?' Kendall asks. 'Yes.' Let's just hope they don't run into any unexpected Keese along the way. This obesity drug market is heating up faster than Death Mountain in the summer! Eli Lilly and AbbVie are also throwing their hats into the ring. It's going to be a battle for the ages folks. May the best potion win!

As long as it doesn't cost as much as a house in Kakariko Village, I'm in.

Hopefully, it doesn't have any side effects like turning into a Stalfos.

In Hylia, there is only one weight loss solution: Running away from guardians!

I hope it tastes better than those suspicious green potions!

Is this deal bigger than the one where I traded my Skulltulas for a Bigger Wallet?
