A Dark Day Dawns
By the Goddess Hylia! It seems even Hyrule... I mean the U.S. is facing a threat worse than a horde of Bokoblins. Word on the street – well the information superhighway since I'm trying to keep up with the times – is that some 'tax bill' is trying to pull a fast one on solar energy. Apparently all those rupees – dollars sorry – invested in Republican areas might be about as useful as a broken pot. It's like trying to use a cucco to fight a Lynel... utterly disastrous!
Jefferies' Prophecy of Doom
The sages at Jefferies or so I hear have proclaimed this tax bill a 'worse than feared scenario'. They say it'll terminate key tax credits faster than Ganondorf can say 'power!' The stock market's already doing the Mipha's Grace dive – plummeting faster than I can paraglide off a cliff. They're hoping the Senate will fix this mess but honestly it feels like we're wandering through the Lost Woods of legislative process – confusing and potentially deadly.
Sledgehammer to the IRA
Apparently this bill aims to 'sledgehammer' Biden's Inflation Reduction Act. According to Abigail Ross Hopper CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association this threatens a manufacturing boom and could leave the US surrendering the AI race to China and its people in the dark probably even more clueless than Tingle is about fashion.
The Trump Card
Trump in his infinite wisdom wants the Senate to pass this 'one big beautiful bill' ASAP. It's like he wants to speedrun the end of clean energy. Mary Powell CEO of Sunrun predicts this could cost 250,000 jobs! That's more than all the Hylian soldiers combined. Our solar stocks also suffered. It's enough to make Link consider switching to a career in cooking… but who would save Hyrule – the U.S.?!
Billions at Stake
Since 2022 over $161 billion has been invested in solar and battery storage projects. Solar and batteries are becoming a fast growing energy source and by 2025 they are expected to make up 81% of power additions to the grid but these tax breaks that are being terminated may effectively bring that to an end and this could cause a decline to deployment by 57% to 72%. And this tax bill also targets projects that source from China such as glass for solar panels or batteries which would prevent them from being eligible for tax credits as early as next year.
A Glimmer of Hope?
Fear not! Some Republican senators are pushing back offering a sliver of hope brighter than a Fairy Fountain. Senator Shelley Moore Capito is quoted saying the tax bill acts like a blanket repeal to the tax credits and would like to see a change and is in support of job creation around the tax credits. Who knew these politicians had more than just rupees on their minds? The termination of the IRA has the possibility to hurt Republican districts the most and because of artificial intelligence data centers that are under construction electricity demand is increasingly needed and renewables can be deployed the quickest to meet demands. Even in times of darkness the light of the sun always finds a way to shine through… eventually!

This is a bigger threat than Ganondorf's pig form!

This is exactly why I prefer living in a castle. No taxes!

Don't worry, I'm sure we can find a loophole. We always do!

This is worse than the time I tried to bake a cake with rock salt instead of sugar!
