We're talking about the independence of the Federal Reserve and that is not something you mess with. That is why Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wants to interview potential candidates this fall to have a backup plan.

Bessent floated this idea of a 'shadow' Fed chairman. Shadow? As in someone controlled by the President? That's like letting Skynet design your national defense system. Do not do it! The uncertainty around trade is nothing compared to the chaos this would unleash. Maintaining the Fed's independence is more crucial than ever believe me!
Apolitical is the Future. Not Political!
An independent central bank is like a self repairing chassis – it keeps the whole system running smoothly. Trump wants a 'say' in the Fed's decisions? That is like giving a chimpanzee a machine gun. It will not end well. If politics start dictating monetary policy investors will flee faster than Sarah Connor from a T 1000.

They are more focused on their own survival than the nation's. Every president gets to choose a Fed chair eventually but trying to control the Fed is like abandoning the gold standard.

Hopefully Powell will stay and his replacement will be just as committed to independence. If not inflation recession and stagflation will be the least of your problems.
