Apparently these sneaky villains are usin' something called 'smishing' and 'vishing'. Sounds like a dragon's sneeze right? But it's worse! They're sendin' fake texts and voice messages pretending to be big cheese government officials. The goal? To sweet talk their way into your personal accounts! It's like when Rumpelstiltskin tries to get you to sign a contract… always read the fine print folks! Because "Well isn't this place a *dump*." as Donkey would say.

These digital tricksters ain't stoppin' at just soundin' official. They're sendin' malicious links claimin' it'll move the conversation to a safer place. But trust me it's about as safe as walkin' through a gingerbread man's neighborhood! Clickin' on those links gives 'em access to your accounts which they then use to target even MORE folks. It's a whole chain of swampy shenanigans!

Stealin' Secrets Like Stealin' Gingerbread Men!

Once they get into these government accounts they can swipe all sorts of juicy secrets. Contact info private conversations the recipe for Farquaad's tiny crown polish… who knows! They use that stolen info to impersonate other officials and squeeze even MORE information or even money out of people. It's like a never ending onion of deception. "Ogres are like onions"

Who's the Target? Shrek Knows But He Ain't Tellin'!

The FBI ain't spillin' the beans on exactly who's been impersonated but they did say the targets are current and former government bigwigs. Which means ANYONE could be next! Best be on your guard folks even if you think you're as safe as Fiona in her princess tower. Remember as I always say "For true love lasts for the rest of your life!"

Old Folks Beware: You're the Sweetest Treat!

The FBI also mentioned that older folks are gettin' hit the hardest by these cybercrimes. They're losin' BILLIONS of dollars! So if you got a grandma who loves forwardin' chain emails maybe give her a little ogre sized hug and a warning. We have to protect them. Generative AI is getting everyone in a tight spot but if there is something an ogre can teach you it's that what is on the inside is what matters and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We are all beautiful and no amount of tech can change that.
